Wow, bergmeister. Somehow I never registerd that you had such an impressive fleet of cars. That's a very, very tasty collection there - obviously a collection put together with some care. Especially the 906. Any pictures at all? Did you have to deal with that recluse/wierdo guy in Germany (forget his name) that has all of the tooling and jigs for the 904/906 and is apparently the guy you have to talk to if you want one? At least I've heard he's a bit of a wierdo - he could be very charming for all I know.
Damn. I hate having tastes beyond my finances. I'm missing everything on your list from my collection. All you're missing is a 917, and maybe a 935 - though the latter are ugly and most people don't like letting them race because they're too damned fast for their class.

Loach you are probably referring to Herr Freisinger ,who had the foresight to buy the factory jigs of the 906.He can build you a fairly accurate replica, and repair originals.
He can be a bit strange, but a wealth of knowledge and parts! But i have not had anything to do with him, my car is fairly original accept for a few war wounds and some period race mods .Busy getting the car ready to race this season, you may even see it at a couple of track days.
If you visit the freisnger web site and look under restoration, then 906 you will see the jigs and a car being rebuilt, its the sister car of mine also in irish/brtitish racing green, both cars were semi works car belonging to afn and a wealthy racer Mike De Udy in 1966.I would hate to think how much the restoration was,the car is finished and belongs to a french man,who ran it in classic lemans last year.
Just finished moulds of the original body work of my car, incase i have a little incident some where, next is a chassis jig, so that I may also put this right.
I will put a couple of photos up later, the car was at the Porsche club show and shine weekend last august, and the silverstone f1 supporting race last may.
I try to keep the cars fairly low key like the 906 is to the 917,but quietly being in the scene.
So not missing the 917 or 935,both in my opinion ugly, but fantastic cars. My only regret with the 935 was turning down a drive/race at spa in Richard chamberlains 935 last season, which is quicker than most 935! I Will not turn it down again though Richard!!
Nice to hear some one appreciates the 906,first Porsche to be designed in a wind tunnel and won its class in most races in 66 to 68.

Went to look at the photos. Would also hate to guess at the costs of the restoration in progress, but it looks extremely thorough. 200,000 Euro? 250,000? For the restoration, that is - not the car. As for appreciation of the 906 - doesn't eveybody? Piech's pet project, wasn't it? In addition to the wind tunnel work, he made weight saving an art form on these cars. I'd post a picture of the 906 for those unfamiliar with it, but if you're going to add a picture of yours later, I'll leave it to you as I wouldn't wat to steal any thunder. In any event, I'm up for adoption; and whilst a bit larger than a dog, I'm considerably cleaner, don't shed as much hair and don't bark half as much.
Paul,
Excellent, drives just doubled in price!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, I will give you a ring later. The car shouldbe awesome this year - I have made new selector shafts for the gearbox and we will have all new bodywork designed for more downforce. I'll tell you about it when I call!
Cheers,
Richard.

Classic. Racing. Porn. I love it. A lot.
Thanks for that, Bergmeister. If you have any of those in high def, I'd love one as my screen saver - could you pm me something maybe? Thanks for posting the shots.
Edit - I'm not looking for photos, because I don't think my heart could take the strain...but when you say 'Street 962', do you mean an actual Racing Porsche 962 road-registered? Or a Dauer car?

I will send a good photo later.
The 962 is a ex dyson racing tub, that never raced.Has original body panels as spares now,as the body is now total carbon. Its far nicer than the Dauer, with better road manners, and hydraulic lift suspension for the speed bumps etc. 900kg with 550 bhp!,it will sort a Mac f1.

Heh heh. This is brilliant. It's like talking to the me in a parallel universe that has loads of money. Well, berg - what else did I buy? And what am I buying next?
Second thoughts...don't answer that. It'll spoil the whole advent calender thing. I'm expecting you to tell me you fly the cars around in a jumbo next. Anyway. I have carnuba and will travel. Consider me on call to come and molest your cars with my Zymol massage wax any time.
