James, love it in black. Looks mean and mysterious.
Stig, the steering wheel doesn't look so bad in the flesh. James seems to have shot the photo close to the wheel, making it look twice the size it is.
James, some more impressions perhaps, now that you have (presumably) done a few miles?

More impressions...where to start.
The yardstick for this particular Lambo is my old 996, which I guess might be a fairly typical transition for a few of the PH 'ers on here. Firstly, the Gallardo is a lot quicker than the Porker - another league faster, not a little bit faster at the top end , ALOT quicker. I've spent the last week and a half getting used to the cars dimensions, you really feel the car shrinks to fit you, and I feel as confident in it as I did the Porker. The noise this thing makes is alot deeper than the 996 (which had sports exhaust fitted) and sounds strong all the way through the rev range, particularly at peak power (4500 RPM) - I always found that the 996 sounded great in first gear but a bit gutless( all things are relative!) in the other five. I drive through a couple of tunnels on my home from work and the noise in second is just divine. The four wheel drive is almost disconcerting in that you dont have to lift off for corners at all, I drove down to Goodwood yesterday and there are some quite tasty roads from the A3 to Goodwood itself - you just keep the thing planted and it shoots round whatever you throw at it. Although the ride is harder than the 996, I personally found it alot more forgiving than a 360, and don't mind at all. It's so flexible too, third and fouth basically cover 80% of day to day driving if that's your bag - I really cant see why you would choose the E-Gear, I live in London, and even so, the satisfaction of palming the lever through the gate (click....Clack) is growing everyday - it's a really positive throw too, really mechanical but you need to be firm and deliberate with it. I had a shocker when the missus calmly slotted second accidently when she meant fourth (don't ask). Compared to the 360 's I've driven the Lambo feels better built (thanks Audi), but time will tell on this I guess. The only thing I'd like is rear parking sensors...Porsche spoiled me there. I can see me hanging on to the Gallardo and passing the 997 deposit /place in the queue to another PH'er in fact.All in all it's been a fantastic inroduction to Lambo ownership

Why oh why do cars do this.
When the Gallardo first came out I though it look a little bit toy, at least compared to the Mercielago.
Now, and especially in black, it looks great, really great. Still not a massive fan of the back, but even that is growing on me. It's the proportions of the car that are just great.

Lovely car...congratulations. My computer doesn't seem to like your webpage and it takes ages to get a picture up 
...lovely thumbnails though. The Gallardo's got a fantastic side profile and front profile...rear a little less so, but I think it would grow on me 
. The steering wheel does look a bit big but obviously camera angle. Can't be as big as the wheel on my BMW.

, Nice. Exactly! No, so far no annoying noises - but it's only 2 weeks old so lets give it a chance. It certainly feels well screwed together......
If anyone is considering buying one of these to use everyday I can recommend it - the only things to be wary of is the extra width at the front and rear - you find yourself fiddling with the mirrors every journey (they also do a neat trick of swivelling up like the doors SHOULD to make the car narrower if needed). Other road users taking ridiculous risks to pull along side and take phone pic's of the thing.
