Quickars vs Vauxhall Dealer
Discussion
I'm in the market for a VXR8... (yes, my time served in the Sandpit has paid off).
Quickars have a couple for sale at £30,995 obviously a bit cheaper than our main dealer friends...
1) Has anyone purchased from these guys before?
2) What benefits do I lose if I went to Quickcars as opposed to a main dealer?
Thanks

I bought my Monaro from them.
They advertised my car for i think £24995 and after calling the guy and took it for a test drive drive he put it up £2000 and said its because it was the last one with 1000 miles on the clock.
When i got home the price was higher and back to £26995 on the net
The only other thing is, i think every Monaro/ VXR8 has been thrashed from new.
I drove a black (07) which had done 150miles and i drove it like i stole it and so did he were going back to his lockup and then back to his house.
So if you going to view a car print out the ad the minute before you leave to see it then see if he ups the price.
But saying all that i would buy from them again... Well i might do if the price is right.
The car is covered fully under the Vauxhall warrenty and not with him.

Its main dealer price with the VAT taken off, but just remember your main dealer might not give you the full service you deserve, I had a few problems with my vxr8 last year, (faulty radio, grazed inner wheel rims,((another story)),) The dealer lent me a astra vxr for approx two weeks while they were refirbishing the wheels, but having said that, it should not make them give you a lesser service.

They are selling them cheaper than a main dealer can buy for. If it is a VAT scam then someone will have to pay the VAT at some stage!!
Hi Brian, was hoping you'd see this thread.....
If something is too good to be true, then it usualy is.....but how does the company operate? Somebody must be making some money/taking a hit somewhere??
Bought mine from them (and paid VAT!) and they couldn't have been more helpful, both pre and post sale. I'd go back, definitely. Any issues I had with the car subsequently (mostly the brake matter) weren't down to Quickars but to the "pay up, couldn't care less" attitude from Vauxhall in general, which in fact would press me more in the direction of an independent dealer in future.
I do suspect that mine may also have been "driven like it was stolen" before I bought it (with 1900 miles up) - but again, I doubt that's down to Quickars, more likely whoever Vauxhall let loose in it for the first 1900. You don't destroy a set of brakes in 7000 miles normal driving, as proven by the fact that the replacements currently have 10,000+ miles up with probably still 7mm pad material left all round.

If it is a scam then it will land on the dealer who is doing it to pay not the customers.Having shopped around last year for a Corsa for Sophie we looked on the internet and settled on an ad that offered us a 13,500 car for 10,200.
Thinking it would be one of those pre reg type deals we were plesently surprised to be contacted by a Vauxhall main dealer who had our enquiry.
Needless to say we did the deal with him, having gone back to the local dealers with his offer and been told it wasn`t possible as that was less than they bought them for.
So I think new car pricing is a little like buying a seat on an aircraft, noone really knows how much they cost, or how much money the Airline has made.
The Corsa turned out to be a real duffer (not his fault) and was rectified by another, local, dealer at no cost under the Vauxhall Warranty. (Was still a duffer, so traded it in for an Astra VXR)
Buy from them with confidence DM you`ll have your choice of who to service and maintain and Vauxhall will pick up the bill`s for warranty work so any dealer will take the work on wether or not they sell you the car.
Oh and welcome home (you`re not Prince Harry are you)

I spoke to Mr Quickars a while ago and he suggested that he got his stock direct from Vauxhall dealers. In fact listing cars they had on their lots on this site. If a buyer comes along I guess he does the deal. He is on good terms with the dealers according to him.
Perhaps he provides an outlet for slow moving stock? One was in Northern Ireland for example.
Seemed to be a reasonable bloke.

I bought my Monaro VXR from them about 5 or so months back. It at the time was the lowest mileage one for sale in the uk for what i felt was a reasonable price (certainly a lot less than vauxhall dealers were asking). they were very helpful and seemed reasonable throughout and even sorted out an issue i had afterwards which wasn't really their fault anyway (but they took on the costs involved). the guy even brought the car down to me as i'd just sold my old car that morning and was carless etc. anyway they seem very good and there were a few other positive comments about them on this and possible the main pistonheads site when i was looking to use them.
Hi Guys
I am Colin Franks MD of Quickars Ltd.I logged into this site and was impressed with the positive feedback from our VXR8 and Monaro customers.I have been in the motor trade for 38 years and with my contacts and experience continually deliver the best low mileage cars at unbeatable prices. These carefully selected cars are presented and sold in a personal no pressure low key way.The high performance Vauxhall cars we market are full UK cars mostly still under Vauxhall warranty and presented in immaculate condition VAT paid. My office is in my house, keeping overheads low I am here to stay and do not have a high staff turnover like most dealers. It was interesting to note that that some prospective purchasers were deterred from buying from us because of our low prices ,there must be a catch ?? They have paid £1000`s more because of their scepticism.I offer to pay reasonable travelling costs if disappointed on viewing any of our stock, and have had no need pay out yet.
If our cars need servicing this is carried out by our local VXR dealer and any warranty rectification is able to be carried out at any Vauxhall VXR dealer.
I do tend to agree with most comments on this site about Vauxhall service. We have experienced problems from their MD`s office downwards and their `goodwill` is non existent, they are not up to dealing with high value cars and their owners.Pay a premium and buy a Lexus if efficent aftersales is your priority.
Andrew Bird my business partner and myself do not thrash our stock and believe that the more carefully any car is driven from new the driver will ultimately benefit with lower maintenance bills, tauter handling and less squeaks and rattles.
There is a touch of b------t on this site ,`driven like stolen`,`VAT fraud`.
Look guys give us a ring for the facts not fiction.

The Carbon is a Wortec model, not Vauxhall. Buy a used VXR8 from Colin and get it uprated. Cheaper than buying a new Carbon.
@Colin. Well said! Welcome.

I know! Just Id like one of each... mortgage gets in the way though!
You could live in a tent.. after all it is summer now..
Or, even better, buy a ute, and live in the back of that. You could run the hot water system off the exhaust, and you could even cook a roast in the engine bay.. AND have a nice big comfy bed in the back.
