Well there is me, but I'm not aware of any other regular posters on here with an E21.

Marquis_Rex is the only other PHer I can think of with E21, although he doesn't post much these days. I think he has actually moved to the USA now, so not sure what's happening with his E21.

I think most E21 owners hang out over at http://www.bmwe21.net/forum/. I go under the username RR on there. There's usually someone clearing out a garage or wrecking a car and they normally offer forum members anything first for a good price before it goes on eBay, so it's worth checking fairly regularly to grab any bargains.

Hi burty,

I don't have an E21, but I do have it's bigger sister, an E28. I've joined the BMW CC, though to be honest, as I'm out of the UK a lot, I haven't had time to do much with the club. They do loads of run out and meets though and cater for all cars no matter how young or old.

PH is great place to be too, the BMW forum is always busy and if you have any mechanical or bodywork questions (or questions on just about anything) there is always someone willing to help out.

Welcome to PH by the way! wavey

I have a 323i, not a member of any club, keep thinking I should sell it, then I take it for a drive and think how nice it is so I decide not to sell it. although it's actually out of MOT at the moment, horn doesn't actually work so I need to fix that before I can get it through.

I do find you get a lot of thumbs up and random nice comments with an E21, people seem to like them and a lot of people had one in the past and so you don't get the usual bad vibes like you do with most newer BMWs. I had an E28 before and that was more of a typical BMW reaction, everyone hated you frown.

Funny you should say that, when I was last home I took the old girl out for a drive. I was sat in a traffic jam minding my own business, when some young lasses drove slowly past in a Peugeot and shouted 'Oi wr!' and gave me the bird. I was quite taken aback.

I did have a bloke come up to me in a service station last year and talk quite anumatedly about my car, I've never had that happen before.

I suppose it's what's to be expected driving something associated with wrs, I just say 'fk 'em' though.

biggrin

No probs!

Is it a twin headlight model? I always liked the twin headlights as fitted to the 320 and 323i better, that's always a good change to make, as are a set of BBS wheels, (in fact pretty much like the one posted above!).

Though to be honest, I'm a fan of keeping my cars more or less standard.

Have you got any of it piccies to show us?

i did get told that from the man that gave me the bmw that when you park up people what to know what it is and want to talk about it. keeping an old girl on the road is cool, i have only ever had one car that is younger then me, and i get the use of my dads 64 cooper s so i love old school cars.

if you ever sell it how much would you sell it for??

Nearly 2 years now, sadly it's going to be up for sale soon due to funds being needed for another project so if you know anyone who's after one I'd love to see it go to a good home.

If I had the space I'd have it off you in a hearbeat, it looks a lovely motor. I am currently looking for more garage space. Let me know when you do sell it though!

Hard to tell with the E21 market, sometimes there's none for sale and you can get a good price, sometimes, like now there's quite a lot on the market and you wont get a good price. Depending on how sorted my car is when I sell it, I would be aiming to get somewhere between £1500-2000 for it, that seems about what a decent, usable 323i would go for these days.

Generally anyone looking for an E21 who has a bit of cash to throw around wants a 323i, a special edition, or especially the Alpina versions. The 320/6 and four cylinder models generally go pretty cheap as they are just not as sought after, but if it's a decent example it should still find a good home.

The oldcolonel example is actually pretty similar to mine, even the same colour and roughly same condition, the paint is probably a bit better on that example, £2500 is actually a pretty reasonable price, especially considering the prices of the other stuff he's selling, certainly much better value than either that E30 320i or E28 528i, nice as they are.

The real money in E21's is in the sought after upgrade parts, many owners are fanatics who will never sell, but they want the best upgrade parts so prices for stuff like original LSD's or recaro seats are going through the roof lately. It doesn't help that a lot of parts are also shared with the 2002, so you have to fight them as well evil

I never did the conversion so not sure when it was done to be honest, I'm assuming it wasn't from standard. I keep meaning to email BMW info about it as it also came with leccy mirrors so would be interesting to read the original spec sheet
