Bit the bullet and bought a Rukka Armax suit today, from Action Motorcycles in Redditch.

Pushed hard for discount and ended up have some Daytona boots thrown in ...

Me happy .... you bet

Do come back in a while and let us know what you think of the suit. Are they as good as they should be for the money?

Bought the safety colour on advice from SHMBO, on first impression the quality of materials and seamstering is excellent.
The thermal inners have already been removed as they are too warm ...

Review of Armax Suit

So 1 month of Rukka'ing into London doing 200 miles a day, here are my impressions of it.

Firstly, the quality of material in the jacket and trousers is 1st rate, the seamstress work is also A1 as you would expect having dropped £1K+ on a suit. The Armax suit is meant to have next generation goretex for wicking, it certainly outperforms a Frank Thomas jacket I had available.

I suspect the Armax jacket runs cool, especially without the thermals inners in, due to the "cool" techology. IMHO this suit is probably colder in warm weather than my leathers. I have ridden in temperatures from 4degree C to 20 C. and quickly inserted the thermal inners back in for the cool mornings.

Protection, the active protection has CE approval and apparently this is the suit the Motorbike cops use. The suit comes with removable armour in the knees, elbows, shoulders and back protector. It is a honey comb structure to allow air to flow.
I have to say I consider the protection good, but if I compare it to my BKS suit it comes out 2nd best.
The secondary protection of visibility to others is very good, I observe the car drivers looking long and hard at me just incase I might be a policeman

Waterproof .. you bet, the suit scores big with little touches like the neoprene wrist bands to stop water ingress, I have ridden in some very heavy rain on the motorway for nearly 2 hrs, with lots of spray and not a single drop of water entered the suit or boots ( daytona)

Pockets are abundant with a useful inner pocket accessible without undoing the zip just the seam poppers

So I really like the suit, it is the quality I hoped for including a 5 year guarentee.

Maybe the armour although good is not the best, but the suit has been designed with zipper access to the armour, so up-armouring the suit is an easy process

Quality 10/10
Comfort 9/10
Waterproof 10/10
Protection 8/10
Usability 9/10
Value 8/10

Overall 9/10

I've had my Armax for 7-8 months and I agree it's a very comfortable suit. Improvements over my previous Air Power suit are the waterproofing being on the outside, which means even after the most torrential down pour it's dry within a hour or so. The Air Power was often soggy on the ride home as the waterproof liner was on the inside frown Small minus in that it's not quite as good as the Air Power in very hot weather which the vented air straight through. As G Man says the cuffs don't leak - Tuscan Rat will tell you how crap the weather was when we went out to put some miles on his bike! I was toasty warm and dry all day thanks to my Rukka. When I bought, I used www.biker-land.de who have deals on Rukka kit from time to time, well worth a look as it saved me ~£400 compared to the price in Dobles (couldn't fault Dobles service though).

Steve.

Great write up! I’m glad the Rukka kit has worked out well (at that sort of money it would have too!)

Do the ‘easy to get at’ pockets stay dry when it rains as this is one of my frustrations with many wet weather suits. All my fuel receipts that I need to claim back expenses end up getting soggy!
