I have been offered a 56-plate XKR, which was first registered in Germany but has been here in the UK, since it was 5 months old.
Full UK spec., all options.
Would it fetch a lot less because it is an 'import'?

The answer might already lie in the offer you get now. Another thing that could be is that additional offerings for new cars like first 3 years free maintenance could be country specific and only valid in the country of origin.

As Avos has said, take a look on Autotrader for an XKR with exactly the same spec as the import and compare the difference in prices. Expect more depreciation with it and the possibility no one may touch it should you want to sell it later on.

Either that or wait for the UK to drop into your budget.

There, at least used to be, a deal whereby UK forces stationed overseas (Germany) could buy full spec UK cars and knock down German prices and then have the dealer network in the UK treat them just like UK sourced cars. Not sure whether this is still the case.
But it was supposed to be the one perk of agreeing to have people shoot at you.

Any military types out there no more details?

Not in the military but my 2001 XKR convertiable is one of these cars. Originaly registered to a Colonel and supplied by a dealer in Mannheim. UK Jaguar dealers dont treat it any diffrently to a UK supplied Jag.

Given the recent discussions regarding residuals and sale-ability of XKs/XKRs i'd not touch an import, no matter how long it has been domiciled. It may be identical to uk cars but try telling that to a buyer when you want to sell. I'd need at least £10k off the price of a UK car to be happy that I wouldnt be losing out come resale.

P.S dont pay too much attention to the prices on Autotrader; there are a lot of dreamers out there. Expect actual sale price to be somewhat lower than advertised.

It's £48K, which seems a good price, bearing in mind it was £72K 16 months ago?

Erm, a December 2006, fully optioned XKR, with 3,000 miles, for £48K?
I have yet to see a UK one that cheap.
With every option and those miles.

If so, £24,000 loss in 16 months is a scandal, quite frankly.

Almost £400 a week, every week, how f'kin sweet is that!

No you probably won't get a really high spec for £48k but not far off me thinks. I would like to hear what the answer would be from a Dealer if you made an offer on one.

Not for servicing. When you come to chop it in against something else you'll find they will. wink

I am only going to do around 5k miles a year and I am planning to keep it 10 years. So it will either be worth sweet FA or values might have bottomed out and started to rise.

Fair enough. smile

Irrespective of where you got it from, the car is simply superb.
