What would it be? In this day and age, something that would make an individual very employable.....lets say money no object.

What say the Pistonhead crowd?

If it was free then ATPL / commercial pilot's licence.

Otherwise, there are very few poor accountants or solicitors around

Can I get a qualification in pimping or maybe gangster rapping?

both seem like enviable professions.

Welding. High pressure stuff like main steam pipes in power stations.

£100k is doable contracting and there's plenty of work.

Qualification in Subsea Engineering. The oil industry simply cannot get enough subsea engineers and getting in is a well-paid job for life! Added advantage is that it opens up mega travel/employment from the US to Russia to Africa to OZ etc, etc...

The oil industry is booming and will continue.

Agree, same as others though: drilling and completion engineering / reservoir / petroleum and so on.
Get in and you are sorted for good.

Seriously considering this myself. Bro in law is a welder for a mid sized engineering firm and is well paid for regular work, gates, chassis, farm machnery etc.

I'm an HGV driver at the moment and TBH it looks pretty dead end. Want to change before age catches up (I'm 30)

such as?

i was going to do an MSc in offshore engineering before landing my current gig in dubai [power industry]. looking at the driveways of the OG boys out here i still want in!

if it was free i would do ATPL on both fixed wing and helis.

in the real world, getting my chartership this year will be enough for now.

I'd like to do a degree in Chemistry at some point. A nice fresh route away from my engineering stuff.

Oh and I'll probably do a PhD at some point too (but a long way in to the future).

Not sure I would have the patience for 7 years part time....

3 year part time distance learning msc was enough.

I'll be quite content once I finish my DPhil I think. Hopefully I don't decide to go in to anything that requires chartership...

My next qualification will be MICE IEng. I've not got the right degree to get the CEng unfortunately.

I've always wanted to get my qualification to drive 360 excavators.

Im sure something academic will come later, but having only fairly recently left school/uni, going to back to either doesnt appeal now.
