First ever trip to an F1 race for me so, regardless who wins, it'll still be an awesome weekend of camping!

If Red Bull can show at least some of the pace they had in Valencia, but more reliability then I can't see them being matched. I think Alonso will get another podium; he seems to like Silverstone.

If it wasn't for the alternator, (or the safety car depending on who you speak to ), the RedBull of Vettel looked utterly, utterly mighty. It was just whiz zing off into the distance a la 2011. I can easily see the same thing happened if they have found that little bit extra.

Alonso has to be up there as well, along with the other usual suspects of Hamilton, Grosjean, Webber et al. It will be a different race than Valencia, that is for certain, with different strains on the car, so it is all still up in the air. I'm still amazed Webber is second, despite not winning a race. He's having a good season thus far, and seems to be keeping out of trouble.

They are hardly renowned for mechanical failure. Still, my point stands, I think. Hell of a pace from them.

I genuinely think that this year the title will go to either Alonso or Webber, purely for their consistency.

Of course, what will happen I'd Dr Markko will stick his nose in and Alonso will walk it due to Red Bull imploding.


I'm going for a Webber win, Alonso second.



I'd love to see a Button win in Britain though. He seems to have the home GP luck of Barrichello. :/

As much as I would like that, I cannot see it happening, certainly not without a decent number of retirements. Still, his pace seemed decent in the race at times, so maybe they are slowly getting to grips?

Getting back to the Redbull reliability behind the safety car, tbh I don't think it is a tinfoil hat job the claim that the car over heated behind the safety car. It'd be no different to your road car getting hot in traffic.

So why didn't every car overheat then as they were all behind the safety car?

Looking forward to this race weekend. I will be there again and cant wait.

Thinking the Mclaren will be excellent here with ferrari and redbull not far behind.

Hoping and fingers crossed for a Macca 1-2 though doubt it with buttons form of late.

The Red Bull car didn't overheat during the safety car. The alternator overheated, then it cooled down again during the safety car period, then overheated to failure after the restart.

By contrast, the Lotus of Grosjean didn't show signs of overheating before the safety car, but suffered a temperature spike after the restart and failed.

While the failure was on the same component (the alternator), the symptoms were a bit different. Personally, I think it's probably a manufacturing fault in one batch of alternators or a component within. It's interesting to note that both Vettel and Grosjean had new alternators installed.

That is very interesting. Could be pure coincidence though.

Not much mention of the Mercs duo putting up a show in the thread so far. Could be the sort of track that suits them. They are steadily improving but not as much as RBs sudden vast improvement. Q3 will tell us more.

If Vettel's Q3 and Race Form last time is a true indicator, could be a question of how far the RBs win by. Hope not, would like to see yet another different winning driver at Silverstone... still several in with a good chance of that.

Surprisingly Bookies have Vettel @ 9-4 which if latest form is reliable, could be a gift. Hamilton @ 7-2 is second favourite but McLaren's race pace does not appear to be as good as it was earlier. I expect Button to improve too but will either McL be able to challenge the RBs, on current form? Doubt it.
