Using the cars trip computer can any owners out there please advise what sort of MPG you are getting, just wondering if there is much difference between the SLK and the C63.

If you're in the market for a new model SLK55, I may sell mine which would save you a bit over a new one. Its coming up for a year old, but I've not really got round to using it; only 890 miles on clock.

I've just sold my current model SLK55 and over 8600 miles from new it averaged 28.8 mpg. On a daily commute of 20 miles it regularly did 30 mpg. My previous C63s struggled to get over 20 mpg on average.

SL55, thanks for that. Having owned both the C63 and SLK 55 can you please let me know your likes and dislikes of both cars?

I loved the C63s, with or without PPP, but tired of only getting just over 200 miles out of a tank of superunleaded. It took a gallon to get to the fuel station and back again so the real world range was under 200 miles. Rear tyre wear was a similar storey as I could only just make 6000 miles out of the rears at best. Having said that the noise when you start it on a cold morning is sensational. Never tired of that. As an all-rounder the C63 is hard to beat but you need fairly deep pockets.

The SLK55 engine is not so charismatic but with much better economy I repeatedly got a range in excess of 400 miles. The roof of course is great in good weather. I only sold mine because of suffering pain following spinal surgery. Stiff springs, a short wheelbase and the current appaling state of the roads do not make for a comfortable ride. My new daily driver is an XF-R a more compliant ride.

SL55, thanks for that.I really do like the C63, but I think the 200 or so mile range would be a bit of a bind.I have an SLK at the moment and would like to upgrade to the 55.

It's a 66 litre tank which is fairly small.
I've just sold my V8V which has a 80ltr tank. Fuel ups were circa £90 and range was about 275 miles. That was probably 17mpg

200 mile range on the C63 is a bit pessimistic. Half a tank lasted me 140 miles when i looked this morning when fueling up. To be fair ive not driven it hard, but nor have i been an OAP style driver.

I refuelled today having covered 284 miles on the tank. I put 62L in, meaning around 15-20 miles range remaining.

For the sake of accuracy, I'd point out that the figures I mentioned above were obtained on a 2008 saloon. This car had a slightly smaller tank than current cars, but only by around 10%. I agree that it was possible to stretch the range to 240+ miles but not if you were doing anything other than driving like your granny.

just collected my new c63 coupe with pp, avg 16mpg at the minute with less the 200 miles on the clock, does this mpg improve as the engine is run in or does it get worse?

Its making my GTR look economical which is a bit of a worry.!

I believe it should improve as the engine beds-in.

I've had that basic 6208 cc engine in four cars and the economy always improved with a few thousand miles on the clock. Also, in the crowded and densely trafficed south east it's not always possible to drive it like you stole it, which probably helps the numbers.
