Unfortunately I think you will find this is the standard part, looks virtually identical to what is on mine. The whole heater system looks rather cobbled together. As for a replacement, not really got any ideas, though you may be hard pressed to make anything worse yourself!

Cheers for that mate but i will do it another time as all the wires i have there now need sorting and i dont want to start pulling them all about unless im going to redo it all..Proper bit of engineering though and a lot of thought obviously went into it...eek

Yep Ralf, that is the original made by someone who could well be still living. Still got mine if you fancy it, i decided to cobble my own together but with the emphasis on easy removal of heat exchanger and good air flow, and the result is--------------- it seems to work better than original although it was damned tight getting it to fit but i got there. A months work on and off turned into 6 months. wooly.

I wonder if anybody has come up with a complete housing, with or without new heater controls. Mine (1987 280i US Spec) has pretty much the same cheap junk and this is the right time for me to do it right.

Hi,

seems to be the same on all V8 Tasmins. Mine looks like this. If someone has a better solution please post.
Greetings from Germany.

inspired by those lovely alloy heater controls i have adapted some out of a chim. what do we think? better than the cheap plastic things that didnt work very well.
