I will be heading there. Beaulieu is less than 50 miles for me but somehow it's not a visit I have made for years, aside of the Seven turn out it will be good to see the museum. See The Lotus Seven Club for detail.

That link takes you thro to the 7 club logon page. Are you saying that the meeting is for 7 club members only?

Just to confirm.......if you want to park with all the 7s and form a display on the day you will need to purchase a ticket from the Lotus 7 Club, this has a different code than general admission tickets which allows you entry to the display area.

Obviously to buy these tickets you have to be a club member, they are discounted by £5 each from the general admission price.

If you prefer you can of course not join the club, park in the public car park, walk in to see the display and Beaulieus usual attractions.

IMO you'll have far more fun and much less hassle spending the £50 membership fee - on £50 worth of petrol for your 7 - go for a decent blat, and give yourself a BIG Grinbiggrin

Hi Mal

I am sorry I do not share your views and neither can your wife who I understand is a member of the Lotus 7 Club.

No doubt we will see you at the L7 club stand at Stoneleigh

Just as long as you use your £50 to drive in the opposite direction to all of us that will be fine!http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/6.gif

So, only for current Lotus 7 Club members.
This means that there may well be many 7 owners who are no longer club members and who were at the inaugural meeting at Beaulieu not being allowed to park with other sevens.
These owners are the reason that the club existed in the first place. Most of them would have been members in the past but perhaps are now not enamoured with the club as it is today.
Shame as the club originally appeared to be formed to bring Lotus and Caterham owners together.
Oh well, maybe the 7's parking in the public car park will outnumber the members.
Also would have thought that opening such an event to all Lotus and Caterham owners would be a perfect opportunity for the club to advertise any benefits and possibly gain new members.

and one does that how?

(and my original nickname didn't go down too well with the moderator - who didn't realise the Lotus connotation)

biggrin - would have made for a better thread!

I just think that if you go to all that trouble to create an account just to have a pop at the L7C it would be worth going that extra mile to at least get the spelling in the title correct

I have edited and removed my post because what needed saying has been said and the person who continuely posts negitive and deflamatory postings has read my comments. I therefore feel that my responses no longer need to remain and hopefully we can all more forward.

I don't see a problem with the "Members Only" bit. If you really want to be there and park in the special area, then your ticket is "standard admission price - 5 quid plus 50 quid. It's cheaper than parking in central London. And for a big bash and being part of the event, it is a reasonable price.

I also sense that there is a lot of history sloshing around here, and I don't know what has happened in the past. Clubs tend to flourish when people give their time and make an effort to do things for the club. Sometimes you get driven people who want different things, and maybe sometimes some feels others have ganged up on them when things haven't gone their way. But the Club IS the contribution of the members and the members, so whenever someone makes and effort, it is contribution, whether some people do or don't see it. Whatever. But it is a club, and if you're on the other side of the wall, then tough luck. Either pay the entry fee, or don't get the special treatment.

If one is part of the glorious history of the Club, but no longer a member, why not join again, keep your mouth shut at certain moments and try to get on, don't rub people up the wrong way, make an effort at meets, think twice or three times before posting, and see if it is fun being a somewhat silent back-bencher. Rejoin but focus on meeting like minded people, helping other solve technical problems, kick a few tyres.

If this doesn't work, alternatively, try going up to someone you don't like and saying "I used to be your friend, so I demand that you invite me to your party".
