The reason for asking is, I was filling up this morning when someone walked up and started talking to me. I was in the car ready to leave fiddled with the window to get it to lower and he says ' Hi Havn't seen you here before !' My first thought was weiredo select first. Then
I noticed the polo shirt had a TVR Club logo. So we said hello etc and he gave me his card and said the Somerset ( chapter ) was very active
Anyhow joking aside I did wonder was it a good thing

Pick your nearest region, contact them and go and pay them a visit and see what you think.
I have never been to any monthly meets but get my moneys worth out the mag and access to the build records.

It's a small amount of money, the magazine is worth it alone.
Some gain from the discounts. Next week's event at Donnington represents a good saving.
I met the Somerset RO today by chance, give him a call, go along to a meeting and see what you think
What/who is the RO? It felt a bit yacht club, the chat but maybe I'm being paranoid. Some gain from the discounts. Next week's event at Donnington represents a good saving.

If you go to a meeting, find him for a chat (Tuscan bedecked in charity regalia in the case of Somerset)

Sorry, he is the Regional Organiser. Volunteers who are the contact point for members and get things organised

Now I am worried. Why do these people need to justify their passion by creating a link to charity?

Don't get me wrong about supporting a good charity
Not only is Sprint a good monthly magazine which is pretty well worth the subs alone but you will also get discounts on insurance, etc. which at (maybe) 10% with some insurers pays the subs (or a fair chunk of them) anyway.
One other thing that doesn't get mentioned is that I suspect the club often provides the insurance for an event that anyone can go to (eg the Back Home with the events on the Prom at Blackpool for which no doubt the local council will require some insurance to be in place). So anyone who isn't a member is freeloading on those of us who are - I'm not having a pop at non members here as everyone is entitled to their choice but suspect that what I've said may well be true.

And another big plus (and something that I didn't find out until very recently) is that Racing Green give you 10% off their parts on production of a membership card. This alone could quite easily pay for your subscription (or a major slice of it).
It was the little nudge that I needed to buy some shiny drop links

I have been lucky enough to arrange attending a few events such as airshows and have had use of a runway for charity rides over the past few years. These have been free to members and part of the reason this can happen is having an 'official' club presence and geting 3rd party cover (for the risk assessment).
We're an odd bunch (!!) with diverse interests and the club has a range of benefits, some won't be relevant to you maybe, but I'm sure soe will

A friend of mine without a TVR is joining tomorrow
