Call that a stump
Dig the earth away thats round it, chop through every root that you find, apply plenty of elbow grease to lever it out.
Just did that with all the left over bushes at the other end of the garden, what a fecking horrible job! They were a lot smaller aswell yet it's took me 3 nights after work to do them. There has to be an easier way

That was using a multi-tool, spade etc so I'm sure a chainsaw would make light work of them.Mattlock thing, bit of digging and a bit of chopping then get a very long post under them and lever them out.
I did about 15 a couple of weekends ago, most a bit bigger than this. The post I used was about 8ft long, dig a small hole under the stump and the level will do the rest. A chainsaw won't speed things up much and it is a pretty dangerous way to use it.
