Can anybody recommend some good protein bars?
Long version
Can anybody recommend some good protein bars? I'm looking for something that is low in sugar and avoids gelatin, hydrolyzed collagen, or hydrolyzed gelatin as collagen and gelatin lack aminos acids and are pig's feet or cattle hide really.
I had some Detour Muscle Mass bars fron the US ans whilst yummy, I think they contained way too much artifical stuff. Any thoughts on what you guys take would be great; preferably with a high blend of casein.

Honestly? I'd make protein flapjacks from protien powder (obviously). It's your own flavour, you know whats in it and take 2 mins to make Can anybody recommend some good protein bars?

Okay, didn’t quite turn out how I wanted them to. They taste more like a mildly sweet stodgy bread. :/
They’re a decent size though and the macro breakdown is 260 cal, 12g fat, 17g carbs + 22g protein.
I’m just having one with a cup of coffee and it is palatable but not how I wanted them to turn out.

have a slice of chicken instead....much cheaper. I feel that the protein supplement is a huge cash cow for conning companies. Dont believe the hype. Most of us arent great enough athletes to need this stuff. Good diet wins every time for most of us.
Agree and disagree. Gram for gram shakes are cheaper than chicken for example, also the ease of mixing one up vs prepping and cooking comes into play. For your average man who 'does weights' shakes aren't needed unless due to circumstances they can't get enough protein through food (although there's not really an excuse). Someone like me for example weighing in at just over 300lbs and needing 1-1.5x that in g of protein is a lot harder through food!
I do however avoid branded protein such as usn/hsn where they charge you £50 for 2.5kg; I make my own (kinda) by going through myprotein. Heres a pic just as an example of what I have in case you haven't seen my concoctions

Amen, non-bro. Most people(*) are wasting their money to flatter themselves; they just don't need this stuff. My post exercise snack (and breakfast) today was 362kcals: 1g carbs, 25g fat, 37g protein. It was some ham and some cheese.
* Not those among us who need to turn sideways to go through door frames, obviously.
Not strictly on topic but any protein thread goes this way anyway. I was reading this post recently when I started to take macro's more seriously...

What I found interesting was the Protein requirements. I'm not particularly heavy so dependent on what you want the requirements are easily met by my diet. I'm getting about 170g a day just through that so I have pretty much stopped using shakes. Just the odd gainer style one now and again and that's mainly to hit my carb macros. A complete turn around from mindlessly trying to do the 40/40/20 split and struggling to find over 300g of protein a day.

Lol, you made me work out what my breakfast includesMy post exercise snack (and breakfast) today was 362kcals: 1g carbs, 25g fat, 37g protein. It was some ham and some cheese.

929calories, 14.3g fat, 88.7g protein, 105.5g carbs and 10.92g fibre
That's 100g porridge oats with 450ml skimmed milk with 2 scoops of protein and another 450ml of milk.
I get around 140g of protein from whey protein with the rest made up of food, can't wait till I'm living on my own again and away from mums meals. Think with me getting so much protein at breakfast, going to have 1 scoop and then move the second scoop to further on in the morning.
