Don't be dense. 1988 was the start of when we really started taxing everything under the green banner. This is proof alone that it's worked.

I saw that one too! What's going on, are we really being conned? Is this a rhetorical question. I don't get it....

Scientists are on both sides of the coin on this and the media just reports whatever they have available, confusing everybody. I never liked the term global warming. Climate change is much better IMO.

So are there many peer reviewed papers that say climate change isn't man made?

Form the article.

"Is there any succour in these findings for climate sceptics who say the slowdown over the past 14 years means the global warming is not real?

"None. No comfort whatsoever," he said."

If this was me at work

Boss "Your 14 year forecast for our business was out by 80%"
Me "The next 20 years of forecast is still ok though"
Boss "Why?"
Me "Trust me"
Boss "Your fired"

These people can not admit that the following things are true

1) The Earths climate always has and will always change.
2) There is no ideal climate.
3) Even if we are contributing to the rate of change, we can not stop it or influence is direction.
4) We have no idea how the Earths climate works.
5) We can't forecast the simple bits of the weather accurately for more than 3 to 5 days and that's only mostly done now because we use satellites to actually see the weather 3 days distant from us.

These guys need to have their funding cut and only the real science funded, i.e. the stuff that helps us understand, not scare. They will be found out, I just wonder how much money will be wasted before the penny drops, especially about the first 3 points.

Why is it so hard to just admit that they don't really understand it and can't predict it?

Agreed. Some scientists seem to have jumped the gun a bit here and tried to draw conclusions their data hasn't yet shown, their biggest win was presenting it as a scientific consensus to politicians. They didn't have the analytic skills to understand the lack of depth inherent in the argument and got panicked.

They simply don't have enough data to say anything reliably yet, they should keep observing but meanwhile perhaps we can direct more funding to other more pressing areas of human endeavor.

A few points.
1. We have natural climate change ongoing with or without human intervention some short term some long term changes
2. We do not know how finely balanced the situation is in that our little extra could push things over the edge - we can speculate either way.
3. we know we are adding CO2 to the atmosphere
4. We can understand what a greenhouse effect is.

Other things I'd say is we notice how weather is impacting us more and more regardless of your beliefs of climate change or not. We are getting more frequent extreme weather situations be it flooding snow high wind and also really very few summer days.

Does the above make me use car less or whatever? I'd sadly have to say taxes force my hand more.
We do composting recycling and use energy to hear the house as efficiently as possible (cost) so we try.

That's true. I think every day between 1978 and about 1988 was sunny, except for a few with snow, and only one windy day that I can remember. It seemed to change quite a lot when I was about 10...

(Which, as sod's law would have it, was when I started walking to school)

Yes, Climate Change is much better if you are seeking to con people out of their tax money on the basis of a lie indeed.

However, it started as Global Warming and that is what we must stick to, especially when it is a crock of s**t.
