Hi
I need to get some headlights (never got any with the car), I also need bowls and chrome rims.
Help! as I found quite a few on ebay but not sure which ones to get.

Basically mini.
Theres a choice of reflectors some with traditional beam aiming in the lens and others in the reflector which I prefer.
You have to make a little angle bracket and pop rivet it to the bottom of the chrome trim to fix it, someone will be along with a pic.

Something like this takes a lot of pain away

http://www.s-v-c.co.uk/product/classic-mini-headli...

also look at

www.minispares.com

Just give them a call to make sure they have sidelights (should if mini spec) as there is a version without.

I can't find the headlights with clear lenses :-/

These are the headlamps but minispares did them loads cheaper but don't seem to be on their website now.

Anyway mini is what you need - as a well known presenter says 'how hard can it be?'

Hi Alan

I went a little alternative with Golf mk 1 or 2 Bosch headlights (flattish front glass), they fit in the mini bowls. Also get decent lamp bulbs!! rally uprated ones (again try MiniSport)

Far too reserved Alan, I'd have thought some HID's from a Tuscan at the very least smile

HID Lights could actually be done.
The issue is that they have to be self levelling - and I note that minispares have self levelling mini headlamps listed although out of stock.

Looked at the BMW Mini headlights, they will fit but look out of place, Tuscan not a cat in hell chance to fit them, Cebera pods will fit but just don't look right, .

They are the ones to have in my opinion!
They freshen up the S look for me, I'm sure some won't agree.
You can also see where you are going in the dark which is a new concept in an S!

Agree with you there Chris, originality is OK if you only want to show the car or drive it in the late 1980's! These do look as if they would 'freshen up' the looks as you say, and wouldnt it be wonderful to be able to use the performance at night as well!!! Just fitted mine with some new bulbs RING have brought out, supposed to be a big improvement (H4 P43T Xenon MA). I will report back. I am lucky in having the extra driving lights, just replaced these with a pair of RING plastic bodied units from ML Performance Parts for £30 +vat (pair!!!) to replace the tatty rusty ones. Fitted with halogen bulbs. A bit tight in the aperture but otherwise a doddle to fit, look to be worth the effort.
No more army issue night vision goggles now!cool
