Sat in the Tap near the ferry in Portsmouth for some nice cheap grub, the admiral drake suggested this place tonight. Rolling literally on to the ferry at 2300 to Caen tonight. See you all there.

An update. We have arrived at the old mans house which is around 2 hours south of Le Mans where we will be staying until Wednesday, we will then be heading to the TL site.

There were no real issues with traffic; we avoided Rouen by using the route posted up in the other thread - follow this link http://goo.gl/maps/CaELu it's pretty straight forward and costs €4.30 in tolls (€2.80 & €1.50). One thing I would suggest is that when coming off the autoroute (A28 Junction 9 - Yvetot) would be to set your sat nav (if you are using one that is) to head for Bourg-Achard, once you are nearby then you will start to pick up signs for Le Mans. I highly recommend this route as my brother who I drove down with suffered the diversion in Rouen twice a few weeks ago and stated that we definitely aren't going through there to LM.

I bet you guys can't wait to see this...

I hope this has been helpful, safe trip all!

Just packing the car and then heading off. Taking 2 days to get there this year driving on 95% back roads. Nice hotel stop on the way down and then Tertre Rouge for the rest of the week.

How you all have a save trip and see you down there.

Cheers Flat - that route looks brilliant, and the practical advice on how to use it is gratefully received. My first time driving down, on Thursday morning, and I really don't fancy Rouen then!

Just off to wash and finish stickering. Will be sure to get Chunnel photos to post here on Thursday.. Can't wait biggrin

Got the tent out yesterday and the rest of the camping gear. 3 frying pans and no washing up bowl! I am sure when the whole team gathers on Wednesday at 17:00 for departure the kit will sort itself out! see you there approx. 4:00 am Thursday. Cannot wait, still remember my first trip in'87.

That's the same route I'm taking this year. I'm hoping to get to Bourgtheroulde for lunch as I've heard it's a good stopping point.

I'm leaving 5am Thursday to catch my 08:25 ferry from Dover.

Can't wait to get these last 3 days over with.

Thanks for the "avoid Rouen hell" map link, we will be using that smile

Can't wait either. Team mates are all UK based and I'm in Amsterdam coming by motorhome. We'll meet somewhere in Calais and drive on down together at fuel and gendarme friendly speeds. One of our bunch just bought a new car today so LM will be a shakedown for that (it's an SL 500).

We'll be driving Calais > LM on Wednesday late morning and into afternoon.

If you see us give us a beep beep!
