Singapore to Phuket twice in 12 day under sail.
Discussion
Have just been off helping a mate of mine who is a professional skipper on two yachts based here in Singapore.
For a series of charters he needed to have both yachts up in Phuket at rather short notice, so the bars (well .... yacht club bar) was scoured by his press gang and a motley crew of tars ... (well pissheads) were rounded up for these deliveries.
Because of various regulations in Thailand and the shortage of passage crew (especially for “Four Friends” ) we had to do the deliveries back to back ....
Anyway, just to give some idea of sailing in SE Asia (and on the western side of the Malay Peninsular which is definitely not the better side for cruising until you get to Langkawi .... ) here are a few pictures!
First yacht was “Long Ranger” a one off 90ft ocean going Trimaran superyacht. Fully air-conditioned, 4 luxury cabins with en-suites, plasma telly’s and surround sound, a sauna, crew quarters, etc etc.

The second was as far removed from the modern luxury of the Trimaran, I give you “Four Friends”,

She’s a 70ft 2 masted Schooner and quite a sight under sail !!
Anyway, enough drivel, here are a few pictures of the trip on both!!
The intended route was Singapore – Langkawi – Phuket with a few stop off’s for any interesting islands that we fancied a look at, these included, Pangkor, Penang, Sembalan Islands, Water Islands, Ko Chuka and a few others! “Long Ranger” did Singapore to Langkawi in 44 hours 30 mins at an average speed of just over 10 knots motorsailing, “Four friends took somewhat longer

can you see the 40ft catamaran that us in the picture above and below!!!

And a few pictures of the Yachts.

Stunning photos! You lucky, lucky man! I have just (literally) booked my holiday at Koh Racha Yai, a tiny island with amazing diving, just off the coast of phuket. Can't wait! happy sailing geez!
many thanks!!Have you already organised your dive operator yet? if not I can get some recomendations for you!
Our final destination was Chalong bay, where a lot of dive boats operate from. Some look like very professional operations, some just look like a bunch of cowboys!!

off with your footnote temptations, will you!Pretty much any series over here is a frostbite series, regardless of the month it is held in! Those photos you posted do look bloody tempting. Maybe if I trip over & stick my wick in her best friend, I could forgo my part of the capital gain in the house for a one way ticket to Phuket.....

I am interested, do you have more info dates and costs etc. XJS John do you have a valid email address?
no costs, just be in Phuket by specified date.Don't know the exact date but "end of march" is the ballpark.
Beer and food is provided, you just work the yacht. Its not a "pleasure cruise" but with Warren as skipper you will see places that 99% of visitors to Thialand and Malaysia never see, and you will have time to explore!

My profile email is valid!
