No longer is it an m3 badge on your 316i , or a nurbergring sticker that you got from some max power magazine. No its now vauxhall vectra's, ford mondeo's other wking pikey stboxes and the other day a new shape vw passat , all with these stupid strip of LED's underneath the front headlamps.
They literally are the stupidest fking thing ive seen in quite sometime , they do nothing they just make you look like you've taken your poxy fking council estate that you live in with you wherever you go!

To make matters even worse , here they are fitted to an a3 that doesnt have them as standard

and then theres this other bag of st

I'm sorry , but this person should just be shot

rant over , has anyone else seen what im on about?

Dont know but down here in London you can see them on everything from clios to nissans . Most drivers look like fresh off the boat sort to speak so maybe its something they aspire to ! So they come to London bag themselves a 4 owner BMW ste thing amd they add cheap ebay leds .

Way to forget the past: remember when BMW came out with the halos and everyone and their dog started putting one on their cars? In a lot of ways, the Audi lights were a response to that, but have proved much more popular than the alternatives, so much so that even Mercedes has incorporated it into their cars.

Don't know about you, but I like them. Much better alternative for DRL than a halogen bulb.

I think that A3 looks quite good.

But I do agree with you, round here they are fitted to all sorts of crap like Vectra's, Clio's, Corsa's, all with the same type of driver.....

It's a blatent example of attention seeking IMO. Why Audi - and now Range Rover I see - felt the need to adorn thier cars with the precicely the same kind of overstyled and tatty bling more usually seen on a Saxo parked in the space reserved for the disabled outside Halfords is very strange.

Still, rather like a registration number that's been deliberately missrepresented in a tragicaly illiterate attempt to spell the owners name or avoid prosecution or some such nonsense it says an awfull lot about the Chav metality of the driver. Whether it's on a £60k brand new Audi that'll inevitabily be either sitting right up your arse or carving you up on a roundabout, or £500 quids worth of knackered Saxo handbraking it round a busy out of town shopping centre car park the message is exactly the same - Simply, hey look at me and my car - don't I look good?

It's nothing more than attention seeking, cock jockying really - proving beyond doubt the person behind the wheel is likley to be an arrogant, testosterone fuelled, insecure and aspirational little tt who's best avoided.

So, don't knock it TOO hard - LED Blingery is not only an excuse to have a quiet smile at the pretentious, but it's also a useful indicator of the sort of Tit you are unfortunate enough to be sharing some road space with. wink

I've read somewhere that soon all new cars produced will have to have these Day light running lights, A European thing i think. A good thing in my opinion as the amount of blind drivers out there is on the increase, and if it means that the lights catch there eye and see me rather than pulling out on me at that junction then i'm all for it.

It's actually a very good safety feature. Unfortunately now that Audi's are cool the will turn up on every shopping trolley hatchback in Britain. Same as M3 mirrors and "Subaru" exhausts. There's nothing wrong with them on Audi's or Range Rovers, it's like being in the 50's and claiming everyone with disc brakes on their E-type is a wker.

Correct.
From 2011 DRLs will be mandatory on all new cars.

What, a bit like putting your car in your username?

I'm just pulling your leg, chap.

I drive a modified car, and you used to. So I just thought your tirade of generalisations was a bit harsh.
(PS - No, I don't have an Audi, or a BMW, but neither do I have LED running lights or halo's!)

Audi? Cool? That's surely a matter of opinion - and I think there's probrably enough evidence to suggest disc brakes have been universally approved and adopted by now...

However, I'll agree - a simple DRL - might be considered a saftey feature, but why, oh why give them all the in-yer-face stylish vulgarity of an Asda christmas tree? Curious is it not too, that almost whenever you see these wretched things they are attached, whether as original equipment or Halfords finest, to either asparational German marques or Chav mobiles - admittedly this is a generalisation but there's enough anecdotal evidence to suggest neither of which do themselves any credit when it comes to thoughtfull or considerate use of the road.

And, if they are fitted primariarly for saftey and are not, as I maintain the automotive equivalent of Argos jewlery then surely all cars should have them?

It's not good if you're a motorcyclist. If all cars have daytime running lights on all the time then someone on a bike (I always used to have my lights on in the day to be as visible as possible) won't stand out as much as before.

Daytime running lights a safety feature? If you can't see other cars on the road in broad daylight unless they have lights on then perhaps you ought to consider whether you should be driving at all.

The LEDs dont bother me. The thing that really boils my piss is the chavs that drive around in euro boxes with blue (yes blue) foglights/sidelights and spotlights along with their blue washer jet LED's and interior strip lights.

They might as well put a big sign on top of their car saying "please pull me over"

Where the hell are the parents?? If I did that at 17 I would be told the law of the land by the old man and my Mum would be telling me that I could just get a better car instead of waste all that money. I very nearly got a body kit for my 1.3i classic mini but worked out it would be a waste of money.
