Why are scum like this allowed to keep dangerous animals.

Its ridiculous, you see tons of people with dogs like this, no one frowns upon them, yet if someone had another wild animal everyone would be in arms.
Well I'm off to buy a lion, to protect me from scum like this.

Watching the video it looks like he's playing ball with the dog when it decides it wants to chase something else which is when the attack starts. It shouldn't have been off the lead in the first place in a place like that and the dog should be destroyed. If it goes after another dog so easily it wouldn't take much for it to go after an adult or child.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/8368548....

Apparently the guy unleashed the dog and was having a beer, that was the beer can not a ball.
Looking at this story in relation too: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/essex/8356000.s...
What kind of mediocre sentence is that, two police officers injured, a horse needing surgery and stitches and all she is told by the court is to muzzle the dog and pay £85? I mean seriously, WTF?

Harrowing footage, and feel for the blind lady, who must have been besides herself during the attack. I have always owned dogs and some have been better behaved than others. We currently have a 5 year old boxer (she looks just like the dog in the picture, although I think that's a Staffy) and she is a nightmare around other dogs, but we know this and keep her on a lead. She has gone for other dogs before due to her being very territorial, but being a boxer she is all noise and no bite, although by the sound she makes you wouldn't think so and with a shout and grab she is back under control (off the lead in a field with other dogs shes fine). The problem is when this type of dog attacks, it is hell of a job to get the dog back under control, so it should never have been in that situation of being off the lead. If anyone where to find themselves facing a dog like this attacking, always aim for the testicles/groin area and kick as hard as you can. Punching the dog, as you can see, will have little effect. People, like the idiot in the film don't appreciate how strong and single minded these dogs can be, when faced with their quarry. I don't condone any form of violence to animals, but when its your dog being attacked, you have to act quickly. I don't blame the dog, its acting on instinct, I fully blame the moron owner.
f
king disgusting... And it's the dog who will get punished!
I like dogs, especially Rotties and GSD's. None of the ones which I, or my friends have ever owned have been vicious or uncontrollable. The problem is d
heads like this one who buy them as a status symbol to cover for their own cowardice. The dogs are given no training and are not taught to respect people or other dogs.
The essential part of training large and (potentially) dangerous dogs is to establish, at a young age, that their position in the pecking order is a very low one! Kicking a dog does not constitute 'training'.
Use this guy as a training object for police/prison/forces dogs, without any padding!

My next door neighbour used my cat to blood train his Staff the Police did nothing about it and a year later someone used his face to open several windows and then blood train his dog.
If you attack a guide dog it's as bad as attacking the blind woman herself. I hope the Police get the owner of this Staff' before he has a similar accident.

Problem is, whilst these dogs are legal, dick heads will always have access to them.
heads like this one who buy them as a status symbol to cover for their own cowardice. I live in a not-so-nice part of London, and I see a lot of drunks, druggies and general street scum with these types of dogs. They seem to be the new must have accessory

When I see how the dogs are treated by these
s, I'm surprised we don't see many more attacks like this...Martin_Hx said:

fully agree , then I'd shoot the Dog as well. I owned a Rottweiller many years ago, it got out of the house and bared its teeth at a female neighbour pinning her to a wall, 1hr later it was dead. There is no point waiting till they bite, its too late then.I am not a dog hater, I still have one but dogs like this have no place in society. problem is half these dogs are not nasty dogs but its all down to how there fetched up .
i get pepole who are scared of my german shepard , i walk her on a lead not because she will run of or nothing the fact is other pepole are concerned .
i offten play fight with my dog and i no she wont even put her teeth on skin but i no if she did go for someone would be put down straight away , end of the day a dog can be to unpradictable.
dog should be put down and the owner should be slapped silly .

What's the difference between your story and this one?
Bloody hell, watching that footage has made me so angry!
WTF is wrong with the f
king idiot that owns the attacking dog? He looks like an absolute moron (check the way he waltzes around on the footage) and clearly acts like one. As has been said above, this clearly looks like some d
head who has the dog as a status symbol.
I really felt for the guide dog and its owner after seeing that, and in a way i'm quite shocked at how savage the whole episode is. I know dogs can be aggressive but the dog that attacked just wanted to kill the other one. Imagine what the blind lady was thinking at the time. Shocking!
Trouble is, and this has been said already, the dog is a dog and its nature (if left untrained and possibly bullied at home) is to attack like this. That poor guide dog was lucky it wasn't killed. Poor thing didn't have a chance with the attacking dog's jaws around its neck etc.
The buffoon who instigated this needs to be found and savaged himself. See how he likes it!

I own two labradors (and have owned labradors for many years), andrex dogs, lovely soft creatures, they'd never hurt a fly .....yeah right, don't you believe it !
A lot of a dogs behaviour is how its treated/trained/its own life experiences, but not all of it.

I know certain breeds have certain traits. But if you're aware of your own dogs characteristics and personality, any potential mishaps can be avoided.
Some of the bull breeds have a "built in" dislike of other dogs (and animals in general, but are great with people.
If the owner acknowledges that, and takes steps to avoid any confrontation....it shouldn't be that much of a problem.
But, aggression towards people is a bigger concern.
We have a Staffie, and she really hasn't got a bad bone in her body. Some people won't believe that, but it's true. She loves everyone and everyhting.

The actions of your dog can never fully be your responsibilty, because the dog is a living creature, in much the same way as horses kicking out at cars seem to be exempt (or their owners are).

Dogs are only as good or as bad as their owners...There are no inherently 'bad' dogs...they are what we make them.I own two labradors (and have owned labradors for many years), andrex dogs, lovely soft creatures, they'd never hurt a fly .....yeah right, don't you believe it !

Far too many people buy dogs and don't have the first clue as to how to train them. All they see is a cute little ball of fluff that they can be amused by.
Left to their own devices without meaningful care and discipline, dogs will assume the role of 'pack leader'.
The dog in that vid was clearly 'the boss' even though its owner had hold of the lead, it was he who was being led.
Sadly when the attack happened the owner had no control whatsoever over 'his' dog.
Unfortunately if found the dog will be made to pay the ultimate price for its actions, it's just a pity the owner can't be made to suffer the same fate.

Never mind that the blind lady has had her seeing companion's usefulness destroyed, I HATE this sort of barbaric behaviour.
That dog had been trained to kill either another dog/animal or a human. Sorry but I find this very upsetting.
No need to apologise...anyone with an ounce of humanity couldn't fail to be upset by that....The ones who enjoyed watching it are the ones society could well do without. That dog had been trained to kill either another dog/animal or a human. Sorry but I find this very upsetting.

Yes, that's it.Unfortunately if found the dog will be made to pay the ultimate price for its actions, it's just a pity the owner can't be made to suffer the same fate.
That's all that seems to happen. The dog will be destroyed = Problem solved.
Everyone is happy as it's one less "dangerous dog" off the streets....
Until the "dangerous owner" gets another one that it.

What's the difference between your story and this one?

1) Blind womans guide dog is attacked by a pit bull who's chav owner doesn't keep on a lead and who then fecks off without even speaking to the woman.
2) Dog escapes from house and scares someone by baring teeth, but no one bitten. Dog destroyed by owner immediately.
Dogs involved in both cases certainly, but could you let us know in what other respects these stories are the same?
