Motoring irony
Discussion
Not sure how much legs this thread has got but anyway.
What is the best motoring irony?
For me it has to be the following:
Mitsubushi 'Carisma'

In no way does this car embody 'carisma' in the slightest.
Points awarded for pictures, wit and pointless reasoning

Well, it's Carisma, to be pedantic. ![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)
As the era of muscle cars ended and America entered the malaise era, they shamelessly prostituted the old muscle car names in shameful displays of commercialism. Now this may look like an Astra but it is the Pontiac Le Mans (or Lemon as it became known)

Now I know the original Le Mans was hardly endurance racing material but this was ludicrous.
Similar fates befell other unsuspecting cars like the Shelby Charger, a rebadged Chrysler Horizon

Then again, look no further than the Singer Gazelle/Sunbeam Rapier from the early 60's - as nimble as Fatima Whitbread and as sharp as a rubber

More arguably, naming a 3000lb car an Impala might be considered odd but they do look darned good.
Other examples:
Vauxhall Victor - comprehensively outsold by the Cortina
Vauxhall Viva - totally joyless
and my favourite: the Reliant Regal

My missus has one.
It quite simply hasn't.
I drove it for the first time in ages having got quite used to our new MX5's.
