Whoohoo ... fitted my custom dash to my Ultima tonight. It even powers up and says "ULTIMA GTR" before switching to the chosen display mode...

It plugs into the OBDII port of the LSx ECU and has built in GPS for speed, track mapping and lap timing +++ loads of other features. Gear position is not completed yet as I have yet to fit pots to the selector mech on the transaxle, but it does come up with 'R' when in reverse....

If speed is by GPS it may fail IVA as the speed testing is done on rollers.

Hi

No, the speed is by speed pulse but you can choose GPS instead, or you can choose GPS to calibrate the speed automatically.

Thats nice.. very neat, wheres the clock..hhahahahahahhahaha

Seriously I love the layout, very clean and simple to read. Do you have a cowl to cover the digidash as sunlight will effect its readout and having it covered will help alot.

Hi

Well, I developed these for use on bikes, and have a lot out there with no cowl. The LCD is anti glaze and is a technology that increases contrast with light (new gen STN), so in direct sunlight it is most readable. It really should be seen - it is very vivid in any light from any angle.

The back looks a bit naf as it just sticks out so I may make a cowl to fit over the back.

Anybody want one? ;-) (sorry for the plug, but these will be done as a low cost 'ULTIMA ONLY' thing...)

Wow, looks pretty good! Is it a custom LCD to get the rounded top edge shape?? Only thing i prefer is an analogue "old skool" needle type rev counter. (although these days, with rev limiters and paddle shift g/boxes etc you never really need to look at the revs any longer ;-)

Hi

Yes custom designed and produced LCD. Took almost a year to get right!

1. What is the LCD part on the right?
2. Please PM me details. I'd want something as "complete" as possible I just plug and play into my LS7 loom.
3. Can you get it unbranded without HMDASH.com written on it?
4. Are the lights at the top shift lights?
5. How does the data download? Is there computer software to go with it?
6. Lead time?

Looks good Gareth. What warning lights are you using there?

Like it!

Looks very similar to the Dash2 from Race-Technology.
How do they compare?

I am just about doing a carbon mounting plate for the Dash2 - with a stalk.

With your customized Dash for the Ultima it could be a direct solution for builders.

The big advantae of the Dash2 is that it`s street legal as it has all necessary signal lamps (indicators, fog, etc) so you don`t need additional ones in your dashboard.

Sorry, I did not want to mislead the original post.

@Ultimichel
I have planned to open a specific post when the project is completed.

It is from a Nissan (Navara/350Z).

You can't use it in the stock condition, because inside there is a pcb with a diode matrix on it.
So some connector pins are used multiple...

I have made a circuit board with a layout that allows to use the stalk universally.
You just need to swap out the original pcb (left on the picture) against my customized one.
This is easy done in one minute.

I have a few pcb's left over. PM me if you are interested.

Hi

The race technology dash2 look great :-)

Our dash is graphical where the dash2 is not. This means that we can display whatever we want, menu's, different screens, English text descriptions etc etc.
Our dash is also road legal and the panel on the right is the idiot lights / icons (MAIN BEAM, INDICATORS, ECU Fault, FI, LOW FUEL, LOW OIL etc etc).

To answer the following questions:

1. What is the LCD part on the right?
as described above - idiot lights / icons

2. Please PM me details. I'd want something as "complete" as possible I just plug and play into my LS7 loom.
This dash comes with the OBD2 connector which plugs right into the LS7 loom. The only thing I have not implemented is the speed, which needs a speed pulse (the LS7 ecu has a speed output which can be used).
WHat I mean by 'not implemented' is that the OBD2 GMLAN CAN protocol also has speed, but it is slightly more difficult to get accurate ODO and TRIP from this, so I use the speed pulse instead.

3. Can you get it unbranded without HMDASH.com written on it?
:-( I guess!

4. Are the lights at the top shift lights?
Yes, they are easily programmable through the dash menu. You can set the RPM for each LED and the RPM where they all flash. They serve a double purpose where you can choose any / all warnings (LOW FUEL, OIL, etc etc) to light up the center LED and you can also choose if the LEFT LED flashes with the left indicator and right LED with the right indicator....

5. How does the data download? Is there computer software to go with it?
Yes, go to hmdash.com and download hm datamanager and there is also some sample data that you can download to view track mapping etc.

6. Lead time?
Everything in stock, so a few days.

I am not really looking to sell these, as we sell a lot to the bike market and I did this for my own Ultima, but am willing to sell to Ultima owners through this forum.
If I was to make it commercially available then I have a bit more work to do because I would want to include full GMLAN functionality such as ECU diagnostics, sensor parameter display and ECU map selection and programming (this is quite a lot more work).

Regards,
Gareth

Thanks Michael.

Will look for a Nissan to see how it looks
in reality.
