I spent 6 years selling cars and then about 3 years working for a vehicle leasing company (until 2005). In brief I have driven:

Alfa Romeo 156 (own car)
Audi - used to sell them so many many variants driven up to 1999. Since then S4 V8 and A5 3.0TDi.
BMW E36 318, E46 330, E46 M3, E34 M5, E36 325, E38 730, 118d.
Ferrari 328GTS, 355GTS.
Porsche 944 Turbo, 924, 968.
Rover - sold them for years so driven most.
Jaguar - Lease company I was with had all models on fleet so driven a lot.
Land Rover - As above.
Ford - As above.
Vauxhall - As above.
Mercedes-Benz - As above.
Nissan - Used to sell them so driven many.
Volkswagen - As above.
Volvo S60 D5.

Amongst this, I have driven many other makes and models as part of selling various used cars over the years. I would`nt like to even estimate how many different makes and models I have driven.

I've missed out the 'boring' stuff, and listed the performance cars I remember having driven, in a pretty random order. It's quite an unimpressive list once it's written down! I really thought I'd driven a larger number of 'interesting' cars seeing as I'm now 40 eek

TVR Tuscan
TVR Chimaera 400
Porsche 996 Carrera 4S
Lotus Elise Sport 135
Vauxhall VX220 Turbo
BMW E36 M3 Evo

Subaru Impreza Turbo 'Classic'
VW Corrado VR6 (Mine)
VW Corrado G60 Supercharged
VW Golf VR6 (Mine)
Mitsubishi Galant VR4

Mk2 Mazda MX5
Nissan 200SX S13 (Mine)
Lancia Delta HF Turbo (Mine)
Alfa Cloverleaf Sprint

VW Scirocco GTX (Mine)
VW Scirocco GTS (Mine)
VW Scirocco GT
MG-TF
MG-F
Peugeot 205 GTi
Peugeot 309 GTi (Mine)

The Legoland Coke Buggy
Close thread, even if they've driven 500 cars, no-one else can put this down surely!
The more I think, the more cars I come up with plus a few bikes. The Mazda 121 in Western Australia with the bootlid that never closed and the 125cc dirt bike I crashed into a tree! The list could go on and on!

To be honest a lot of the 20 year old Jap sheds on the list were more of an "experience" than that Rover biggrin

Ive driven 5 they are:
Mk4 VW golf 1.9 tdi se - dads
Mk3 VW golf 1.6 gl - Mine
Mk5 Ford Fiesta 1.3 flight - Friends (coleo)
Mk6.5 Ford Fiesta 1.6 tdi - Driving instructors
Renault megane couple 2.0 - Friends.

fave has to be my instructors, then mine, then dads, then coleo's and i wouldnt reccomend the megane to anyone as the gearbox and pedal feel was horrid.

i can imagine having my knob eaten by a piranah would have been a more pleasurable experience

I've driven 4.

First is my father's '91 Mini. 1293cc, stress relieved, balanced and blueprinted, PiperX cone air filter, RC55 straight through exhaust, brake disc upgrade (cross-drilled and grooved), brake pad upgrade (EBC greenstuff), hi-lo adjustable suspension, walnut dashboard, and 13k miles on the clock.

Second car I drove is my brother's '89 VW Golf GTi 8v with brake hose and pads upgrade. Pads were a bugger to fit...

Third car I drove is my instructor's car, which is a Peugot 307 HDi. Nothing interesting there, so moving on.

Lastly is my friend's 0.8 litre Daewoo Matiz. Never have I felt like the steering column was about to fall on my lap before, but there you go. It's written off now because some stupid idiot drove into the back of us at a junction - creased the boot floor. She got out, admitted liability saying "I'm so sorry, I was concentrating on my screaming kids in the back, and I didn't see you! I thought there was a gap in the traffic." No sympathy. Saw my instructor drive past us though.

I don't want to sound too patronising; but this really is a kid's question. Like anything that is a LOT of fun, at first you keep a score, then after a bit you stop counting! But it doesn't mean you enjoy it any less, you are just getting more experienced at whatever it is.

Regarding cars; I spent 16 years in the retail motor trade selling BMW, Honda, Alfa, Toyota and Volvo, plus all sorts of used stuff.

I've been a driver for QEK and delivered press demonstrators all over the UK for Audi, VW, Jaguar, Renault, Nissan. (4 cars a day was the norm, some guys doing this job drive nearly 100,000 miles a year!)

I think you may be missing the point a bit - we talk about the relative merits of cars new and old all the time, and it's easier to understand where someone is coming from if you know what sort of reference they have. Apart form that, it's fun in itself reminiscing about all the cars you've driven smilealthough it's sort of alarming that there's been quite a few road test cars here of which I have only a vague feeling that I may have driven them, but no positive recollection of the event at all. Am I getting old? eek

No Eric, you're not getting old.
That's my point: When you have a lot of experience, you can't recall it all, only the highs and lows.
