Also, out of sheer geekiness - what is the car the that supposed road tester is driving? I'm inclined to say a Pug, but can't quite place it?
1 series - 11 secs in and you can see the swooping silllittleandy0410 said:

Its quite a clever advert. The purple car is a Fiesta, and the road-test one is a current shape civic in the interior shots and pre-facelift 1-series on the exterior shots.

Clever if what you wanted was Golf to be associated with regular pain, as well as being boring and average.
If anything it made me want a Honda. Anything but a golf!
its definetly a fiesta, id recognise that god awful front bumper any where, its supposed to look like a focus rs bumper but really doesnt
edit - think its this bumper - http://www.speedydelivery.co.uk/images/fie502.jpg

Just to confuse matters further, and to add to the debate, here is a pic of the engine bay in the purple car!!!

Yes, and that doesn't look like a fiesta engine bay.
Oil filler cap is on the wrong side of the engine for the 1.25 and 1.4 16v IIRC. And rocker cover's the wrong shape for the 1.3 8v.

Aren't virtually all sumps baffled to some extent? It's like when they mumble about overhead cams - barring the KA I can't think of any production car that's used push rods for the best part of 30 years.
Up until 2007 the 1.4 ltr skoda fabia used a skoda pushrod engine designed in the 60s or maybe even earlier i believe. Many v8 engines are still pushrod.
Still a fair few out there.

yup, its a mk3 fiesta as i own and built the car although it was a blue tuned pulsar they used to the engine shot as they didnt have the room in mine or the right colours for the lighting, it was just around the corner when they filmed my part of the shoot, nice chap he was, they have coloured the tops of his wings on to look like mine as it was like an imperial blue colour.
the shoot was inreal, a day before usc, and i turned up thinking i was going to a film studio. the postcode lead me to a nice cul de sac, so i knocked on the door and a couple answered, turned out vw had paid them a substansial ammount to use their house for the afternoon. we waited there till around 6pm and detailed the car.
at 6 pm 4 artic lorries drive down this tiny cul de sac and parked up out of site, they started to unload lighting equiptment and literally , lighting was everywhere, even as far as 25 house up the road just to add effects.
then a flooring team came and laid a fully plastic floor in the downstairs of their house which took only about 45 minutes. after that around 15 minibuses came with all the directors. vw media folk, high end people ect, was amazing
there was literally about 150 people just out of shot of the advert around the corner. was an experience!!
i joined up to a sight called fueltopia which a lad called james runs and he always gets media work or freebie days out to og on ect, so he put me in contact.
it was all very secretive untill i confirmed id do it, didnt really no a lot myself, and didnt know who the advert was for.
heres a couple of terrible quality pics of my pathetic phone to show you another angle, and a pic of my car in its current state.

before the abuse starts i realise i own a modified car but its what im into and what i like, so please hold back on the stereotypical pistonheads comments that make people like me feel so welcome...

just to add aswell, on the advert for the part they said a golf sized modified car but CANNOT be a golf
you couldnt really use the line, like a golf. if the car actually WAS golf.
True, but IMO the Fiesta probably wasn't the best choice of car for the advert. It looks like a Golf, but at the same time its not really 'like a Golf'.you couldnt really use the line, like a golf. if the car actually WAS golf.

I really have to ask - Why on earth did you volunteer your car for an advert where they pretty much demean it and take the piss?just to add aswell, on the advert for the part they said a golf sized modified car but CANNOT be a golf

Your car might not be my sort of thing, but any idiot who can see past his stupid prejudices can see that you have put a bloody great deal of time, effort and money into your car, to have some snotty media b
