I was really disappointed by the episode. As it just wasn't realistic.
It never is. I'm surprised at the amount of support it receives on here; it's so far-fetched as to be comic.
FFS, it's an entertainment program, not a documentary. As someone mentioned, a lot of data analysis, endless surveillance and so on would not make for good TV.

I do agree they take some things as little "too far" at times but on the whole I think the mix is right.

Anyway, I don't think any of us are in MI5 to know what is REALLY true anyway, let alone post plot holes on an internet forum LOL biggrin Bet they're listening in on our posts though wink

On the subject of realism, Imagine if soaps had to be "realistic", NOTHING would ever happen biggrin

The whole plot was written about us turning into turmoil over not getting enough gas, due to a slight health and safety issue.

They could of come up with a better idea than that.

What's wrong with that? It's perfectly feasible that uncle Vlad or whoever could give us the shaft and indulge in a little price gouging/political chicanery. Whether a fire at St. Fergus or similar could bugger up supply from Norgieland enough to make it an issue I don't know, but on the face of it, it seems at least possible if not very likely.

Where did H&S come into it? Did I miss that bit?

The plot is somewhat unfeasible "now" but in future, who'se to say we have to make "interesting" choice about where we get our energy supplies from. The political landscape will change in that time of course etc.

All the more reason for doing what the French do and embrace nuclear power and control our own destiny but that's another thread altogether! biggrin

Anyway, as I say, it's just an entertainment program, not a documentary and a certain amount of artistic licence coupled with some elements of real life etc. make for fun viewing which is what it's all about!

Did you not hear what the cause of shutting down the gas supply was?!

Anyway the power stations only use gas to start up a turbine. Turbines only need shutting down for an outage. Also not all power stations use gas start up. So the effects wouldn't be immediate, also would not hit as vastly as they implied.

So what keeps a gas fired powerstation running once it has got going?

Sorry I wrote that wrong. I should of added most.

The gas fired ones (10% off the top of my head) would be shut down.

Good episode! Didn't think Jo was going to die, I thought it'd be Ros.

u reckon i have been vvvvv disappointed with this series - glad to see jo shot though just ross to go..and get matthew back.

lift - hmm open doors climb down and open lift, stun grenade and shoot

or they breathe somehow so stun gas in there

or ross actually do something with the 3 guns that were in there

or get the hostage takers family and threaten to kill

etc

theyve ruined it

I enjoyed everything except that she shot jo where she did. These people are 'supposed' to be highly trained professionals, from that distance she could have gone for a headshot which would have been more effective anyway.

That was not a good episode, there were about a million other ways they could have ended or stopped that surely? All seemed a little contrived just to kill a team member.

Exactly my thoughts, very badly writen.

I'm starting to think Spooks is getting a bit long in the tooth now if these are the sort of stories we can expect, perhaps its time to stop it before it gets really bad.

Just a bit silly really.

I know it is entertainment and all, but why, if Ros had time to contemplate that she was going to kill Jo by accident, why did she not use that time to think "why don't I shoot his hand off?"

As others have said, head shot would have done the trick if Jo moved her head to the side.

Just a kop out to kill off another character.

I enjoyed it but am disappointed yet another fairly key character has been killed off, somewhat unncessarily.

I'll still keep watching as it's one of the better dramas on TV smile

More to the point, kill off the only fit character that looks really good now she's gone for a more ladylike haircut. Ros isn't bad but a bit too dominatrixy for my tastes. I was gutted. Like someone said, they should have gone for a head shot with Jo then going "whew that was close, I'm so stressed I'm now going to take off all my clothes". That would have been a much better ending if you ask me.

What's worse than a terrorist with a button to blow something up? A terrorist still with his hand on the button, but with a gun shot WOUND in him too. First think he'd have done would be to push the button. They've mentioned before in the series "I'm going to shoot you here so your finger doesn't push the button" type things.

All just to kill Jo - rubbish!

AND...why didn't Ros start CPR / stem the bleeding? eh? eh? If Jo was going to die they could have done it a lot lot better.

Oh, AND...Ros, 3 guns, obvious mutiny to the lead french bloke - shoot him, job done, others come quietly.

Gah. I didn't realise I was so angry hehe
