I seem to have an odd thing about wipers

I love the late 80s BMW's Merc's and Volvo's with the headlight wipers, its a pity modern cars don't still have them.

I also love any car with an unusual wiper treatment, I think this stems from when my Dad brought home a Citroen BX and I was amazed (I was young ok) that a car could have a single wiper.

I also own one of these, didn't buy it for the wiper but its a nice bonus tongue out

I also love the triple wiper treatment Morgan gives its cars

I know I'm odd biggrin

So what little obscurities on cars do you like?

My Mercs single wiper as it has a cam to wipe more of the screen than a normal single wiper.

Auto dimming rear view mirror. Does this count as "obscure" ? or just uncommon.

Just acquired an Omega Elite which has this and at this time of year, it's brilliant what with all these brighter bulbs, fogs, misaligned lights that seem to be on the road behind me. Would like the side mirrors to do the same though biggrin Asking too much on a 9 year old cheap car I suppose.

Sad little thing of course but I like it.

Still trying to figure out the "real" point of the rear blind that I can make go up and down biggrinbiggrin

Wife's Focus has front screen demister thing, something good that's not as common as it should be, esp in V cold parts...

M6 having a rotating amber and red zone that moved from 5k to 8k on the RPM to let you know when it was warm enough to engage warp :-)

FIA kill switch, fuel pump pull switch, race cans and a starter button.

Will that do?

I really like the idea of the Merc wing mirrors that dip when you put it in reverse. Pity you can only get them on Mercs.

...and the Alfa Brera and Spider, possibly 159 too. Comes as part of the electric seats pack, I think.

Right, but apart from that, only Mercs.

The E-type has a three wiper windscreen

I think the headlight wipers went out as high pressure washer jets replaced them; more aerodynamic, fewer parts and lighter.

I have a thing for doors and strange headlight locationssmile

Here you can see the doors slide forward into the front wings

The middle headlight is connected to the steering

This 512 has both middle lights and doors

and I could'nt forget the Z1

The window switches fitted on the roof in front of the rear view mirror on my old Alfa 75. Always looks like your giving someone the finger. And its U shaped handbrake. And its push putton door handles.

Continuing the wipers theme, for some reason I find the twin rear wiper setup on the Toyota Camry Estate fascinating:

I saw one of those the other day, never seen one before then, thought it looked a little odd!

My first car was a Citroen ZX and about the most interesting thing about it was the single wiper. Citroen, Mercedes and Jaguar were big on single wipers in the 80s-90s but I don't think any do anymore.
