Just an update.
I've booked some time on a boat for next august.
Currently prepping arsenal.
Current weapon count is a small kitchen knife, a rounders bat and cliff richards last single. This is going to be more challenging than I previously expected.
forget all that, you need an alarm clock, Pirates are scared stless by alarm clocks for some reason
I only have a digital alarm clock. I'll try that though.

The Chandlers have just been on C4 news.

Poor b@stards, seriously. I'd be happy to donate a few quid to get them home, someone's Mum and Dad that.

Sadly I really think they are going to end up dead, I just hope for their sakes it's q quick bullet to the head, if it does come to that. I really hope not though.

Can't the SAS just get in there, kill everyone and get them two poor sods back home?

Thats got to be in the national interest surely? While the SPaniards are flinging suitcases stuffed with $4million at the pirates theyd know who to kidnap when the pirates who kidnapped the brits get massacared by our special forces. I'd send the SBS not the SAS though.

Aye god point, and the navy seals too please.

Heart wrenching stuff seeing them on telly.

Just a thought - there are thousands of very wealthy people around the world to whom the ransom demands would be a drop in the ocean. A private gesture from them wouldn't be politicised as a governmental payment would.

Still a nice bit of SAS kick-ass would be better.

Trouble is paying the demand just encourages them to do it again.

Send the SAS and SBS in with a few film crews and they can show it on Crimewatch update.

not paying just means lots of dead bodies cos they are so stupid they don't learn

What, including the bit where 3 SAS soldiers get blown up?

Why do you think they don't get sent it? Cos it's not as simple as on TV perhaps...

It wasn't a serious statement, as these pirates are armed to the teeth I can't see any way of getting them out. Even if there is a payment there is no guarantee they will come out alive.

Nuke them all from orbit. Harsh perhaps, but the couple's lives are already hanging by a very thin thread and nothing short of paying the pirates is going to change that.

Perhaps if they realised that taking hostages stood them a high chance of imposing a death sentence on themselves, they might have second thoughts.

At the very least, the armed forces should be standing by ready to kill them all the very second that it's confirmed that they've killed the hostages.

Your equipment sounds more useful than the Royal Navy!

Paying the ransom gets them out alive. The Royal Navy standing by doing nothing also encourages them to do it again.

Solution sell they Royal Navy and use the money to pay the ransom

work on the assumption the couple are as good as dead anyway and just blast them all to fk? If we get them back good, if not it would probably have happened anyway.

No problem, the FCO is 'monitoring the situation closely'

So that's all right then.

Why does the cynic in me think that they'll be 'rescued' in mid April? Just before a general election. Get that feel good factor going....
