here's mine, eisenmann race with supersprint x-pipe:

please note the clutch let go on that first run, very annoying as we were trying to get times
for a PBMW feature that day.

anyway, hope this helps.

I would either get a capritso or a Quicksilver as both produce a sound that is second to none.
Quicksilver? Isnt that a Peugeot 106?
Defiantly not...
Take a look at this video; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlUsjhDX8ik

E38, i think it was about 2-250.

As for the quicksilver they dont make them for the E39 M5 (there not in there cataloge anyway) and also that AM V12 engine would sound good if it was connected to a dustbin;)

HOW MUCH DIFFERENCE DOES THE X-PIPE MAKE? HOW DID IT CHANGE THE SOUND?

Whilst fearful of the cost, when mine needs a new exhaust I'll be tring a Meisterschaft (check out youtube).

i dont know the difference in sound between eisenmann race with xpipe and eisenmann without as i had both installed at the same time. i do know that it makes it louder! as usual the vids dont really do it justice but this combo is awesome. have a search on www.m5board.com for exhaust vids with different set-ups and see what you like. loads of info on there.

cheers,

I have to agree with with earlier posters....Tubi Rumore has the optimal balance of roaring sportscar and sophisticated rumble depending on mood.

My wife drives an E39 M5 with that exhaust for the school run(!)....Many a time I will have to pause what I'm doing and open a house window as she leaves to hear the car accelerating down the road. Friends and family can usually recognise the arrival of the car by sound as it has a distinctive latin wail....

If outside your budget, see if you can find a used one. Even if you buy new, there is ALWAYS someone who will pick up a used one from you if you decide to move on....I've seen them fetching over £1K used...

Thought I'd resurrect this thread smile Anyone in the Herts/Essex/London area with H&S back boxes fitted who is willing to meet up so that I can have a listen ?

Cheers.

Did you know that the H&S back boxes aren't back boxes at all. The pipes go straight through and the boxes are just for show.

Yes was aware of that - just want to find out what they sound like in real-life rather than youtube. Also thinking of splashing the extra for a Tubi Rumore so it would be useful if there is someone local who has one of them fitted too.

This sounds good as well. The exhaust noise gets a bit muddled with background tyre noise due to the failure of the traction control.

I chopped the rear boxes out of mine and replaced them with stainless tube.
I think it sounds good although maybe slightly loud at times and maybe doesnt sound as refined as some expensive systems.
Its a hell of alot cheaper though! Somebody mentioned weight, those four rear boxes weigh a ton!
