I'm with the op on this one. I regularly kill, prepare and eat game and I would also be happy to slaughter a lamb or calf to eat it but the idea of eating something while it's still squirming disturbs me quite a bit.

Thereks no excuse for causing an animal to suffer in my book.

A lot of these videos are misrepresentations (though clearly not the sushi fish) since there is a surprising amount of residual muscle activity remaining in any animal even after it's well and truly dead.

I've fried eel that had been decapitated by the fishmonger, but yet the 'body' still wriggled in the sink as I cut it up, and still wriggled in the pan when half cooked.

Eel is a bit special, though - I've cracked one over the head, taken it home, decapitated it, gutted it and skinned it, and it has still been moving. Zombie-fish. I've never known a cod or mackerel or trout do that, though lesser spotted dogfish are similar.

Like I said on a very similar thread - Its totally unnecessary.

As is poaching tigers / rhino etc etc which all seem to be headed for the crazy chinese cuisine / medicine market.

(Wasnt there a programme on not long ago that found all these millions of packets of dried 'creatures', which utlimately is going to kill off more and more species due to the insatiable appetite of the far east?

But who's going to stand up to the chinese?

Another alternative is freezing them, which puts them to sleep and then boiling them.

I struggle to understand however that given that lobster is a foodstuff, what the is alternative to killing it before we eat it?
