Well like I said I didn't even do the briefing, I turned up late due to the bad weather on the way down. Signed the forms was given the wrist bands & was out on track within 10 mins.
Were there any sighting laps done to help people without much experience?
Cragswinter.

I'm very concerned to hear you weren't required to go to a briefing. That just shouldn't happen regardless of who is organising the event. Were you given both wristbands at signing on?

Well I guess these things get picked up on pretty quick, had a phone call (off a blocked number) from someone who said they worked for focussed events asking how I managed to get a briefing band without actually doing the briefing.
As I told them I signed on got the bands & went on track, my point was how many others did this?
Still to give FE their due they are looking into it, I felt it was only fair to put that up here

Hi all,Willis's Dad.It was my third time on Oulton,as a novice in the rain andif I held anyone up I do apologise.
I did as was told and moved over to let you faster guys pass but I was amazed at the way some drivers were behaving and driving.I also had a sticker on but believe me there is nothing more unnerving than two clowns side by side battling to pass each other when there isn't enough track to go round.
I refrained from the afternoon session as there seemed to be more stop than start.
I thought it was a good day,but some people need to give the newbies a bit more TLC and stop racing especcially when they obviously are not driving to their capabilities. rolleyesthumbupbiggrin

To be fair to FE, their mistake on the day was too many cars booked on the day, MSV control the track and generally run the day, race control should have come down firmer on certain drivers.
There should of been another chat to the drivers before lunch to re itterate driving standards which were very poor by some.
We were very lucky that there was no rear end shunts on track by people right up on your rear bumper especially when braking for a corner.
Why people found it funny to stop a session due to their stupid driving was beyound belief, it was some drivers that ruined the day, not the TDO's.
You cannot change the weather conditions but you can change your driving standards.
My day was not ruined due to the rain but idiots who were hell bent on driving way beyond their talent.

I think one or two of the stoppages were mechanical failure. It's a shame that we probably lost about an hour of track time through the day. That Impreza bump looked and sounded pretty nasty, I was surprised he managed to drive it back to the garage. I was doing my best to keep out of people's way, I think I must've had the smallest engine and lowest power there so it wasn't too hard and I had no problem letting people past. Them RS's and that Civic thing sounded awesome when they went flying past me up Clay Hill. laugh

A bit naughty maybe, but in our garage we had that BMW down for First Spinner... Unfortunately we were prooved right very early on. smash

Any more pics or videos?

well oulton's a pretty good track in the wet i reckon (my 1st wet day there). druids was well slippy but there was plenty of grip offline & the rest of the corners seemed pretty good, however.....
today was one of the worst trackdays i've been on & the main problem was the standard of driving out there. now before i get flamed for being stuck up my own arse i understand everyone has to start somewhere & not everyone can afford a brand new car to take on track but really the amount of time the track was shut was unbelievable. how many cars broke down on track? if you can't prep your own car to last a day then leave the bloody thing at home. oh yeah & another idea, if you look in your mirror & there's no-one there & then two corners later there's someone up your arse there's a good chance they're travelling faster than you. try letting them past.
am i the only person who thinks this??
I was trying to be a little diplomatic in one of my earlier posts, but I really can`t argue with you. I hate red flag incidents due to poor car prep and more so, overly keen/inexperienced drivers going off at the first opportunity banghead , like the XR3i that buried itself up to the sills at Shell oils on the outlap after a already lengthy red flag incident curse I understand that everybody has to learn and start somewhere, but why can`t people drive to their ability and the conditions until they become more experienced, sorry, rant ranting over!
that bloody white capri was a liability out there on wednesday!!!! i have him on film off the black stuff 3 times on separate ocasions from wednesday!!!!

and then he does a load of donuts in the carpark before foooking off home at the end.........

here he is with the shell oils incident...

Unfortunatly after going through my videos there wasn't much of interest. I only switched the cam on a few times & every time I did it was always when then track got closed.
If there's anyone with some footage of a blue megane it's always interesting to see what it looks like

Glad someone mentioned Terry McCann and his white capri, the @rse wheel spun and driffed the capri in front of the pit marshall whilst entering the slip road. Class A prat!
FE are there to make a living but some drivers should be asked not to attend again.

for example the audi S3 that took over me goint into a bend and some of the cars not getting out of my way before i had to move over to let faster cas through myself

and by the way i was in the black escort you can just see behind the focus in the above pics
