I wouldn't do Oulton on my 1st day.
But then some like trackdays to scare themselves wink
Do take it easy and TRY to be smooth, it's quite different from road driving.
IMO Oulton is the best track I have done in this country, silverstone is pretty good too tho. I wish I'd been there more often! Oulton is a fantastic circuit with great changes in elevation and camber to keep you on your toes.....

check this out for how not to take druids.... it was taken this wednesday in my focus rs....

Also, don't do the first session after lunch or the last session of the day - if you do, just use them as a cruise around.
disagree witht he last session of the day, it has consistenly ben my best session and fastest, oftne the clearest

i dont always do it as either the car or me has had enough but if your up for it the lasts session can be mega

That's pretty good advice actually as far as I'm concerned. I've always tried to go home at the point I think "Right, the day is coming to an end, one more fast run and then home". Scratch the run. Go home.

That and never ever use the words "Watch this!".
yep

when you say that was the last run, DONT DO ANOTHER

top advice

Nothing wrong with the last session/end of the day, I've found this can be the best part as many will have headed home and it's less crowded.

Fair point and my comments probably don't apply so much to a seasoned tracker, but a novice is likely to be more knackered and less consistant, so I think the advice should stand for a novice.
