Theres nothing wrong with a man in a skirt, on a rainy mountain, after dark, chasing a haggis smile

Bearing in mind the different options available to us, I've started a Poll thread which will give us an idea of who might be interested in what, or at least some numbers. You can vote for as many or as few as you like, so you don't have to decide on just one at this stage.

We'd be up for the Scottish road trip too (as long as it doesn't clash with racing commitments). For those that enjoyed driving on Nurburgring track, Knockhill circuit is like a very mini Nurburgring, it goes around the mountain and it has some fun corners, one of my favourite tracks, and they are not plagued by noise restrictions. So worth a day there on the trip planning, I've raced Comp Coupe and GTS there, the GTS was on OE brake calipers, so with some advise anyone on OE calipers need not fear some spirited laps! It would be a friendly thing to open the trip up to the German club in return for their invite last year, just a thought!

so we'd want a day or afternoon at Knockhill, as late in the year as poss for the better weather, it always rains in Edinburgh smile but the flip side is the really light nights, and avoiding all them midges on the west coast (whatever time of year it is they decide to swarm)

Colin better have finished his x8 car garage by then, knockhills 10 mins from his house wink

We could go to the Bonneville speed trials like we did last year. Oh no, I remember now we didn't go because no-one organised it.

Late May through June is a good time for weather in the Highlands usually. You've got to try the roads out towards the west - designed for the Viper! And Knockhill is indeed excellent as Nad says.

I was going to go to Salt Flat week in 2008 and was even lucky enough to get an invite to drive (a very modified Viper!) but we had already booked everything for VOI Detroit and they clashed! 2010 year they won‘t clash, Salt flat week is end of Aug and VOI is planned later for first week Oct, Salt Lake City!! (BTW this is not official yet!) so if you can afford it (both will be costly) you could do both next year. I have friends that go, so can find out the best places to stay, but have been told stuff gets booked up quick, and the prices are always inflated for this week. The Colorado club did a great road trip to Yellow Stone National park this year (which I couldn’t make) but, this is a place on my personal visit list one day, so I’m waiting to hear more details on VOI activities, otherwise I may incorporate a drive North visit on to Yellowstone with the Salts flats week. Anyway, not to get off the tangent of the Scotish trip plans, I'll try and find some pics from Knockhill.

Knockhill, in the sun and rain, you can actually get both on the same lap, ie it will be raining around one side of the mountin and dry around the other side! No special tyres here, road Toyo R888's

Heading into the Scotish mountains...

Yes, I got grief over 'trailering' there, but, I thought making a trailer to take spare tyres was better than a roof rack!!

Taken in the paddock at the track, with Colin and Kathys very orange and very large truck.

Poor res pic, but on the brow where you blind fly over the brow into a turn.

Don't worry about NVR maybe it could just relocate further north to be a proper NVR.
I was going to have to look further afield anyway to find fresh tarmac.

Like the look of that!

Must say Knockhill sounds interesting, had heard the name, but not seen anything of the track before... although I think I may have seen some GT racing on the TV from there? (Not sure if that is held there or not)

Can't see anything which makes me think of it as a mini nurburgring, or suggests that it's wrapped round a mountain, but I'll take the word of those more in the know on that one...

touring cars, GT and some F1 have gone around it though it quite tiny but tuff, think Nad did something like 47 seconds a lap in her GTS when we were there

It does go up/down like the ring
