Should your kids be allowed to answer the phone?

I notice it is often my 8 year old daughter who answers the phone when I call from work. (Probably because the Mrs is too lazy) but I'm not sure I am comfortable with this.
Do many other PHers allow their youngsters to answer the phone, or are they on strict orders not to, unless directed otherwise?

Basically the idea that a stranger could call up, ask questions that might not be appropriate for an eight year old, or ask information that we might rather not divulge etc. Or she may misunderstand something that is asked, or told.
I'm not too sure I'm actually bothered, just not sure if I should be.
I think it'd be pretty obvious to most callers (esp if they know you, i.e on a home number) that it's a child answering and they'd ask for their Dad/Mum or an adult please.
Or is this something systematic of people thinking there's paedo's on every street corner and now they're calling houses up all the time
Anyway, if you're worried about it, just tell your child not to answer the phone.
If they do regardless, there's little you can do anyway so why worry?

I used to My parents never had any issues with it, and neither did anyone calling, all I used to do was answer, then take phone to whichever parent the caller was asking for or say neither was around, it's not difficult and I don't think many callers are about to start asking an 8 year old for anything other than whichever parent it is they want to speak to.....
