RAF MARHAM TRACK WEEKEND – 4-5 SEPTEMBER 2010
Discussion
The weather is looking very good for this weekend so bring the sunblock
Just a friendly reminder that you MUST BRING PHOTO ID with you in order to get in to camp. We have checked all details now but we can't let you in until you can prove you are the same person as on our master list.
People have turned up in the past who have had to leave a passenger behind at the gate because they forgot thier ID.
Official ID only. Blockbuster Video Card will not do
For Example;
Passport
Photo Driving Licence
MOD F1250
Warrant Card
'Prove It' Card

It went very well today. Loads of track time for all (6 hours). Open sessions tomorrow to so plenty of time on circuit
We have working out what type of tyre leaves big rubber bits on track. It's rally compound Pirrelli slicks. The rest of the slicks were fine.
See you all in the brief tomorrow.
George

I think I may have added to the large rubber bits left on track. Although there were some other contibuters also as my tyres were intact until after lunch. I had some new(ish) budget tyres on the front of mine which have about 5mm of tread over about 2/3rds of the tyre now and have 0 mm on the other 3rd. The entire tread seems to have effectively just come off on 1/3rd of the tyre. Will post some picks tomorrow. I suspect it may have come off in entire blocks or long strips.
here is a photo. Hard to see on the photo but the left half of the tyre is just the outline where the tread used to be the right hand side still has tread. You can sort of see looking at the lower part of the tyre.

you were going too fast again weren't you...
Lucky beggar
see you all next time around
God and the War Office willing, must have been a really good day for it, hope tomorrow is good for you chaps
As ever a brilliant day, we had a thoroughly entertaining 7 hrs whilst we were there.
My co-conspirator managed to remove half the tread of the front tyre after a spirited drive in the afternoon that really put paid to the afternoons entertainment but it was worth it. Oh, he offers his apologies for the 360 he managed prior to lunch in our silver BMW, but glad the marshalls saw fit to allow him back on.

Another fantastic day today (sunday), only 2 tyres u/s and lost 4th gear at about 2.30! The old girl brought a smile to all its passengers.......
Many thanks to Ian for organising the PH attendance and of course Geaorge and his RAF team for their organisation and participation.
Shame about lack of numbers (less money raised) but hopefully next year numbers can increase with some changes?
Also - can someone remind me of the photographers website as forgot to make a note of it!
Thanks again to all the organisers,
Steve

Having been a big fan of your car for what seems like years it was great to have a few passenger laps in it - sheesh it picks up revs so well and is lovely and nimble through the twisty bits. Made me wonder why I persist in trying to make a big heavy coupe into a track car

I think I'm going to start a separate thread on that subject - I had some interesting conversations around the paddock on Sunday but the people at the event aren't really the people I need to get opinions from - it's really the people who didn't attend and have done previous events that I need to hear fromthanks to all for the event - just as good as ever.
all of our cars managed the entire event without too much trouble, so I could get on with the driving - I lost count of the number of passengers I managed to squeeze in.
I'm glad we managed to find the "rubber chunks" culprit !
different car next time methinks - The Holden is currently top of the list, but I'd still quite like to bring the Bentley

Thanks all for eveything. It was by far and away the most well behaved track weekend ever which allowed me some time out on track.
Well what can I say! Steve took me out in the Sunbeam!! It was the quickest i've ever been round that track!! We finished off some slicks which resulted in a bit of a spin as we were running on canvas not rubber
Steve,,,,, Sorry about the wing mirror. I hope you get it fixed but thanks for the thrill ride
We came back in to learn that the only incident involved me.... Oh well,,, so Ian kindly offered to take me out in the Monza. Lovely car,,, Sweet sounding engine and very smooth. The Sunbean and the Monza are like chalk and cheese when it comes to track behaviour but still very quick.
Very relaxed weekend for me thanks to you guys and I finally had time to play.
Once again thanks to Ian and Steve for grabbing me and forcing me to have some fun
Cheers

The both galleries for Saturday and Sunday are here - as always Brian has concentrated on getting the action frozen whereas I've added the feeling of speed.
