I watched this once. They were all totally unlikeable vacuous wkers and then we have Sugar in charge of the whole shebang and he's a fanny too. Why would you want to work for Amstrad anyway? To learn how to take a commanding market position and turn yourself into a company that makes knock off digi boxes?

It won't be a UK company so unlikely to find it at companies house.

I'm not looking on CompaniesHouse. I'd assumed that even though it's registered in the IOM you wouldn't be able to use the name of a company already in use?

Only if that name is not in use in the IoM. There are some restrictions on names but a similar company in a different jurisdiction is not one of them.

Okay, well how about this for something of more interest.

Alan Sugar doesn't currently hold any Directorships and 'Amscreen', the company that last years winner went on to work for has a turnover of.... £2million last year.

Profit After Tax -£2,023,121

Edited as I was looking at the wrong company.

Why would you go on this if you were actually an investment banker? Certainly not for the money laugh And as above, the camera seems to have added 10 years to some of them!
Yea that's something I don't understand... Are they back office/admin guys who say they've worked at "XX Bank" to make themselves sound better, or are they actually taking a pay cut/loss of expected future earnings by being on the show?

I thought when quality people left banks, it was to start companies like Ocado. Not to appear on the tele and have to sell cheese to the French or dog collars to PetSmart in have the chance to earn 100k.

Ex-gradute progamme? Didn't cut the mustard or reached the end of the programme (I understood most IBD graduates did their 3 years of punishment then went elsewhere with the experience on their CV/did an MBA etc). I think quite a few City firms cut their programmes, if not an entire intake, because of the financial crisis.

They're all doing it to be on TV anyway so it doesn't matter.

Alan Sugar is a silly caricature of a man at this point and as somebody mentioned he royally fked up his very successful company.

Why should people listen to him? And what does selling cheese have to do with being a good employee at Amstrad?

Just found an absolute gem on the wikipedia page for Amstrad.

"Recently, Amstrad has also started producing animatronic Alan Sugar heads"

Says it all, really.

Is Sugar the 'Cowell' of the 'successful' business world?

Personality of a soap dish, ego of a porn director.

Tossers the lot of em.

Not at all sure I am going to be able to watch it. May have a peep through the corner of my eye. Dan Harris' head is HUGE. (Well it is if you compare his mugshot to the rest.)

Shibby's is too small.

No, because whereas Cowell is someone who failed, then got back on his feet to become ever increasingly successful, Sugar is someone who became sucessful, had a company that at one point was as valuable as Microsoft and Apple, then went on to make blunder after blunder (Amstrad e-m@iler? "it'll be dead by xmas" - talking about the ipod) and now has a property portfolio and a stty digital signage advertising company that doesn't seem to be doing much.

I hope he mentions that he's alive to Sugar. That's a huge plus.
I know when I'm looking for employees I try to find living ones.
