Picked up my new Bastuck stainless steel rear silencer delete pipe today from Regal Autosport in southampton and can't wait to get it on and hear what it will sound like!! woohoo

Once fitted it will have standard manifold into a Milltek decat, Bastuck suitcase silencer delete pipe and back into a Milltek backbox. Should sound pretty sweet!

full poly bush kit front and rear
Full geo set up

Other plans are to fit uprated engine mounts I am after a full set of Black Forest Industries motor mount kit just need to find someone in the states to receive order then forward on as they wont ship to the UK but think I have this sorted now!
In case you're interested, I polybushed (the yellow ones from eBay) the front of my Corrado VR6, and it made a slight difference - bit of a bugger to get in though.
Geo - I can't overestimate how important this is, especially lowered! Bear in mind having it a bit higher will make this better (control arms at least level).
Engine mounts - I am currently running a Golf TD gearbox mount, a standard rear engine mount, and a 67A shore hardness front poly mount (BFI Stage 0.5 is 60A, Stage 1 is 85A). I think this is a great performance road setup with no downsides.

Love the rear brace - been meaning to do one myself for a while, based on the Neuspeed one. Where did you get the metal?

Nice car!

Rob - I got the metal from a company on ebay really quick service and not to expensive. Also what make are your mounts and where did you get them? Do you notice much difference with the TD gearbox mount?

Thanks for the link - will get round to doing it sometime...!

Engine-mounts:

Rear: Standard VW OEM
Gearbox: Golf Mk2 TD OEM
Front: German eBay built into a new OEM munt: http://cgi.ebay.de/Motorlager-vo-Polyurethan-PU-La...

The poly mounts from German eBay are available for all 3 mounts, and in 67A or 82A shore hardness.

I replace two shot mounts, so the difference was obviously huge - but hard to distinguish which mount did what, as I changed them both at the same time. The main improvement was in shift quality to be honest, and there was no discernable change in NVH.

Thanks Matt, the bastuck pipe dosn't fit onto the milltek as they are different sizes (was surprised to find the milltek is only a 2" system!!) and join in different places furious

So now the milltek is for sale so I can replace it with a full 2.5" Bastuck system with no silencer and just backbox with custom tip welded on! biggrin

Only 2" on a VR that does surprise me? Mind you does the Miltek also fit a MK3 GTI too? That would make sense, one back box to cover all bases.

More loudness thumbup

Well managed to sell the Milltek system pretty quickly and got the new system ordered up straight away!

I now have a 2.5" system from the decat back with no silencers!! biggrin Really impressed with the quality of the work on the new exhaust and can't wait to get it back on the road and see if it makes much difference to the drive! driving

Suitcase delete pipe definately looks like it will flow a lot better!

Current tip to the exhaust

This will be cut off this week hopefully and the new tip welded on, going for a 3.5" straight pipe rather than the rolled inward one that is currently fitted.

Will try and get a video of how it sounds soon, once I have sorted the alarm issues.

Do you have a 6 branch manifold fitted as well? Just a thought with your exhaust system, you will need a flexy section between the manifold and the centre section or you will end up replacing exhaust hangers on a weekly basis.

As for the sound, ive been in a VR6 with a 6branch straight through to a standard back box and surprisingly it wasn't that boomy and noisy during normal driving but when you gave it some beans it was boarderline too loud. At the moment my corrado runs a 6branch, decat then leading into a Magnex stainless system with 1 silencer and a 4inch outlet and from 3000rpm upwards at WOT it is simply cloud9

I don't have a 6 branch on mine, have thought about it but its a lot of effort to change and know they are prone to cracking if you don't have a stiffer front engine mount or flexy section between as you say. May fit one if i take the engine out next winter.

Time for a big update!!

Got bored of waiting to finish wrapping the car and with the weather getting better I want to start using the car so thought F@*K it I will paint it!

I was trying to decide between satin black (as I love the way it looks) and a matt colour, but still loved the colour of the vinyl wrap so decided to find a similar colour in a matt finish, bring on a large box of Montana Light Blue graffiti paint!!

Some of the inspiration for the change in direction!

The colour match is absolutely perfect for what I wanted!!

So set about painting! The wing is in paint and the bonnet is wrapped in this picture shows how close the colour is!

Front end being sprayed

Then last weekend made a big step and got the back end done!

Rear end getting back together

Probably wont be to many peoples taste but I love the way its coming out!

It should be ok, it is a lot tougher than standard paint it would seem, but time will tell! I will probably pick up some of the Swissvax Opaque range to look after it.
