I hope this has been rescued! What a machine!
Why do this when you could buy a perfectly good Imp Estate from Hillman?
There never was an 'Imp Estate', there was the Husky which was a boxy van with windows.

I quite like 300s boxedin

I'm suprised they didn't do an estate, Volvo are well known for them and Escrots etc had estate versions

Here, Here for the 300 series 'specially with the bigger engine. IMHO that estate needs a bit more development, some of the modern 'wide glass' looks for the tailgate, like the final facelift on the other Volvo estates, would be a help.

I have this strange urge to see this as a van body on a 2 door shell.

I know there are a couple of XK150 estates including the "foxbat" I'll see if I can find a picture. I think I took one at XK60.
The Foxbat is coming up for sale at Bonhams - More details in the Wail

Saw this in Ireland last week - not strictly an "estate that never was", but I've never seen a MkV Cortina hatchback before. It looked to have a Mk3 Escort rear end grafted on, quite a neat job, just not sure why...

That looks awful! Who looks at a XK and thinks "you know, I think a Morris Minor Traveller roof, windows and rear end would set this off a treat..."?

I quite like that in an eccentric kind of way. If it was a house I think it would be described as rustic.

In relation to the MkV Cortina above it's owned by a guy in Co. Limerick (You seen it in NewRoss, just across from SuperValue wink )

It does have a Mk3 rear end grafted onto it, it's the second one he has done although the other one has rusted away and is beyond repair.

He done it as it's something different.

You didn't happen to spot the orange Mk1 Escort 1300E there, that was mine. biggrin

For RegisterHere - yep, that was it! Saw your Escort, lovely car, I think you were just pulling out as we went back to ours - we couldn't get into that car park without banging doors, so were in the next one down. My old Mk5 was dark blue over silver, maybe that's why it caught my eye. I guess it was a Ford day, saw a couple of other Mk4s, some Capris & a 1600E? Shame the heavens opened, but that was the only major time in two weeks, so can't complain...

Yup 20 cars in total, we had a week-end away, about 250mile trip.

The Mk2 and MkV are owned by the same fellow.

That would be parked next to the "Famine Ship" then?

Small old world isn't it?

If you like that sort of thing then you'll no doubt have seen the XJS with the Citroen Xantia back end grafted on?

p.s just spent a few days up the road in beautiful Inistioge

It's interesting (in a curiosity shop type of way), but there's no real point to it as I can see. It offers very little advantage (if any), over a standard Cortina and falls a long way short of a Cortina estate.

Still, sometimes it's nice just to be different I guess!.
