Was in traffic a few weeks ago and noticed what I thought to be a 360 replica heading toward me and tipped off my passenger to laugh at the dick in his fake Ferrari.

As it edged closer I grudgingly began to think that actually it was a pretty good job.

By the time we got to 4 cars apart I realised it was a Mclaren MP12...
allt his time we though mclaren were spying on ferrari for their f1 tech...

It also works lower down the food chain, I've heard on the M3 forums (and indeed once in person) someone asking if my M3 was a replica. I can sort of understand, but I'm more of the kind of person that prefers to just enjoy looking at a car without wondering if it was originally an MR2, a 320d, or a Peugeot 3008. If someone's put some passion into it, best of luck to them. I saw an M3 convertible that had been converted into a CSL (convertible) and I can say it was nothing less than spectacular.

Although those F40 reps do seem lacking, they're not wide enough!
i think the problem stems with the owner to be honest and their attitude
some replicas do look pretty good ill admit and there are some that even stevie wonder would know that its a fake but their owners are so deluded that they will argue until next week about the authenticity

i was on a night out with some mates, we were pretty drunk to be honest anyway we were walking through the town and spotted what we believed to be a F355, quite a nice looking one too
as we got closer we realised that said F355 had a couple of pretty girls around it
but as we squinted a bit harder there was something not right about the car, and then it clicked, that rear window was all wrong at which point we realised it was actually a MR2

the bastardised MR2 then moved on towards the local club (sthole) and the owner was giving it the whole look at my ferrari patter,we arrived about 2 mins later. my mate shouted something, im not sure what exactly at which point the owner dived straight back into the car and replied with "of course its a real one listen to me take off" to the sound of a screeching 4 cylinder

it wasnt even a turbo either,

There were a few at a small show near the Trafford Centre either early this year or last year (at my age, a year kind of blends into the next!) The stand had Ferrari awnings, flags, banners..the lot. The owners were there in Ferrari caps, t-shirts, jackets you name it.
To be frank, I found it embarrassing. By all means make replicas, it's kind of homage to a legendary manufacturer, but don't bloody pretend it is what it ain't!

It's a bit like people with enormous blingy Rolexes or whatever.

I always assume they're fake that the wearer has got off some bloke on a beach in Tenerife for a tenner.

I've seen a few of those on the road, and I'm almost ashamed to say that I think that they're horrible. Well, maybe not horrible, but definitely not a classically good looking Ferrari.

Daytona, 308/328 ..... and its those that tend to be badly copied.

What I don't understand is how do these guys drive away with everyone fawning over their cars?

I mean surely, even a car nonce is going to be a little sceptical when he turns on the ignition and cranks the 4 banger over and it sounds just like their Astra!

You can't replicate the sound of a highly strung, flat plane, NA V8 with a japanese turbo 4 right?

There was a Lambo replica for sale in the Classifieds not too long ago, from memory (and to avoid slander this may not be entirely accurate) it was priced similarly to an original and was described as such as well.

If it winds you up this much and you are certain it is a replica why not walk over and point this out? Its a tt thing to do but every now and then everybody gets the urge to put a twunt in his place. If he's clearly talking about the "Ferrari" it wouldn't be difficult to knock him down a peg or two as punishment for being a compelte penis.
