Those buggers have had a few of my lovefilm DVDs too. I just hope they haven't got a bluray player the cheeky sods!
Same here.. I've recieved two torn open lovefilm envelopes with the contents gone (strange that they are the only ones that seem to get damaged
). Although I don't know whether it was the postie or not to be fair but even if they arent the 3.142-keys nicking them they have some responsibility - my appartment building has locked postboxes in the entrance area and our lovely postman has form for leaving my LoveFilm envelopes on top of my box rather than posting them through the slot like a normal person
I've since changed my delivery address for them to be to work and strangely I've not had any problems since.

Weapons grade stupidity here.
Systemic thieving, and you try to put the blame on the victim. Incredible.
Is this sort of thinking what happens when Labour is left in charge of the country for too long?
It'd be like the cashiers in the bank helping themselves to £10s and £20s then blaming the bank for leaving money lying around. Systemic thieving, and you try to put the blame on the victim. Incredible.

I had a good one a few months ago. I was sent an important exam certificate in a cardboard backed envelope to stop it being folded/damaged. It even said "DO NOT FOLD" in large red lettering on the front. What did the postman do? Correct, he folded it in half!
I'm now left with a ruined certificate which has a massive crease through the middle.
Tried to claim compensation from RM, but they required details about where it was posted, which mail service delivered it etc etc. All info I couldnt get as it was sent from the USA.
I do exactly the same! Photograph every receipt AND photograph my expenses claim form with the receipts beside it.

Sent an expenses claim form with a load of train receipts recorded delivery on the 14th Dec, still not arrived so recruitment company I work for can't pay anything until January now. Brilliant. No cash or items of value.
Online tracker just says 'in progress' even though it's been 6 days now. Found in another link they can't track recorded delivery or where it ends up, need special delivery for that.
One of the reasons why I always photograph every receipt before submitting expenses to certain customers. It's a good habit to get into TBH if you're posting stuff too!Online tracker just says 'in progress' even though it's been 6 days now. I guess a Christmas card wouldn't get very far if you asked a bank to send it.

Ask for a cheque in future
They steal those too. HMRC got in touch a couple of years ago wondering where their payment was. We told them the cheque had been presented to the bank and cleared. They said they never received it. Go the bank to investigate and it had been altered from "H M R C" to "

There were a lot of people with accounts in the name of Inlandi Reveni or slight variations of a few years ago.
I don't even know why they bother with that, just after me and my bent business partner parted ways I found out he had taken cheques for the company, crossed out the company name, wrote his own name, initialled the change and successfully banked them in his own account.Could have been worse, have you seen what Fed Ex delivery drivers are doing

The sooner that company goes bankrupt the better!
If they do, then people will have to start paying the real cost of getting their letters delivered. And they won't like that, one little bit.The private couriers are just as bad - if not worse; I'd suggest that the level of complaints about them (on here or anywhere) is pretty much commensurate with the ratio of items they move to those moved by the Royal Mail.

I don't think that good sense like that is going to mean very much to those who are enjoying the chance to have yet another go at the Royal Mail.I hate threads like this, where a few bad experiences are used to blacken the name of an organisation that does extremely well with no-where near enough money going in to pay for it all.
I wonder how TNT etc would manage if the most they could charge was controlled by government, and set an an artifcially low price?

You're getting confused with logic.
Imagine this, there is a murderer running around with a gun, everyone is advised to stay indoors, a guy ignores this, goes out and gets shot.
Do we not call the guy stupid aswell as the murderer? Afterall, he was warned not to go out..
You sir are the weapons grade material, not the person you quoted.
If someone is murdered, I blame the murderer. Imagine this, there is a murderer running around with a gun, everyone is advised to stay indoors, a guy ignores this, goes out and gets shot.

I suppose you blame rape victims who wear short skirts.
How you can think there is a sensible comparison between (a) walking up to an armed murderer on the rampage and (b) using the Royal Mail to send a gift beggars belief.
I've worked with the RM on and off, for years, not on the letters delivery though.
I was discussing postal theft with one of the managers I worked with, back in the early nineties. Apparently, a coloured envelope is the first thing to catch the attention of thieves, which they then squeeze to form a gap inside the card. A quick shake, and if there is a note inside the card, it rattles quite distinctively?
Simple cure, if you absolutely must put a note in the post was to tape it inside the card. No need to go nuts, just stop it moving about.
Having seen the results of theft, and the security measures in place at the RM, there is plenty that could be done. Personally, I'd start with cards described above, with UV security ink inside, and start randomly scanning every worker. It won't get better in the RM without somebody grasping the nettle, and taking security seriously. It's a shame really, as it really is a minority who tarnish the name of thousands of honest people.

The first thing that was stolen off me by the Post Office was a bank card (pre-chip and pin). That ended up costing my bank many many thousands of pounds.
The second thing was effectively an entire ID pack. My wife bought an ex-Motability car and had to write to the DVLA with reg doc, MOT, insurance, proof of address and driving licence. We sent it special delivery, they returned it scum class, all contents stolen.
Recently I had some opened mail sent on to me in one of those plastic bag things. Oddly enough whoever did it was only interested in opening my bank statements.
There are plenty of organised rings targeting mail. Oddly enough mail that either contains money or can give them access to money.
