Here's the column I used for mine separated out - the pic shows Corsa bits only.

The bit on the left with the 2 U/J's wasn't used, the piece from the bottom of the TVR column with the bearing slips over the Corsa EPAS output shaft exactly.

I used a Corsa B column. To attach the top part of the inner shaft I cut and welded the lower part of the TVR tilt section to the internally splined Corsa section - this allows the column to still collapse.
The outer upper part of the column on mine is made up of some of the original TVR welded to the concertina bit of the Corsa one, again retaining the collapsability.
Go slowly with any welding so you don't cook the tilt mechnanism - although if I did another I'd do away with the tilting bit and try and use the whole Corsa upper section.
Fiddly job but IMO makes a huge improvement to the car!

I like your idea of retaining the lower section of the Griffith outer tube, but I can’t work out how you connected the lower inner shaft and lower outer tube to the EPAS unit. Also did you make a bracket to hang it from the pedal box? I would love to see a picture of your installation.

I’m still in the middle of fitting a Corsa B to my Griffith. For the lower outer I used a short length of 2 1/4" tubing welded onto the lower support bracket of the Corsa column. This was a neat fit over the boss on the EPAS unit, so it was easy to ensure it lined up straight. I had to pie-cut the 2 1/4" tube to reduce its diameter to then weld onto the TVR lower tube. I made a jig from angle iron to keep everything straight and square.
The lower inner shaft of the TVR has a section in it which is squared off and collapsible - this is a perfect fit over the output shaft of the EPAS. I drilled through both bits and put a 6mm bolt through to retain them then welded them together.
Bracket to pedal box - on my pre-cat Griff the motor of the EPAS could be rotated up on the steering column axis (this was prior to everything else being welded up solid) until it touched the section of pedal box that is above your right knee when driving. I marked and drilled 2 8.5mm holes and used an exhaust clamp to attach the EPAS motor. I reasoned that the torque reaction would try to push the motor into the pedal box bracket when truning one way and the exhaust clamp will prevent it pulling down when turning the other way.
Will try and get into garage and get a pic later.

Thanks for the detailed instructions, very interesting and helpful. Sounds like you put a lot of thought into the installation and made a really good job of it.
I guess you had to shorten the TVR lower inner shaft so you could reuse the squared off sleeve. I’m not sure I want to weld it to the EPAS output shaft, wouldn’t the 6mm bolt alone be enough or did you consider using one of the UJ’s
I will use your idea for the lower outer tube but will consider having an adapter sleeve turned to reduce the 2” ¼ tube down to the TVR tube.
The exhaust clamp is a great idea, thanks, but did you attach the exhaust clamp straight to the pedal box or did you make a small bracket?

P.S. I’m also fitting it to a PreCat Griffith and choose the Corsa B as it’s shorter than the Corsa C. Also interestingly the Griffith Column is 30mm shorter than a Chimaera column.

Steve, you'll have to let me know how you get on. Once it's all up and running it'd be great to pop round and see what its like, get some info on do's and don't's. I'm only in Bucks so just round the corner !!

Steve, one of your road trip buddies here. Excellent work going on in that almost cavenous garage of yours, but knowing you the finished job will be better than any indie installation.

I say this - because I had to when fitting my pumped system - i.e the fibreglass is only single skined at that point plus it needs to be water tight etc.

I agree with you about the fibreglass at the bottom of the column, fortunately it's not taking any weight or load of the epas. When you have a look at your drivers fan ducting & vents please take a picture of your strengthening plate so I can see how big it is.

I modified & drilled one of the Ford lower steering bush holders to fit (left over from my kit car build days), however you would probally find it easier using some 3mm plate; cut a hole to suit the shaft & drill through to match the existing 6 bolts & mastic.
I took a pic & will add it later.
The drivers foot well fan update - when switched on it definitely blows air to the right hand centre dash vent (next to the stereo), which probally explains why I never felt any air from the same vent when the using the normal fan heater. Also it supplies an eye ball type vent on the right hand of the drivers foot well.

Also thanks for checking your driver’s cool air fan; I suspected it was connected to the right hand dash vent. I’ve now fitted the fan, which was the easy part (while I’ve got the pedal box out) and now I’ve got to find a route for the ducting to the dash vent.
On the EPAS front, I’ve finally worked out a design for the bottom column; if it works I’ll upload a picture.
