Mark Taylor's cars are among the very best: he seems to be one of the most reliable specialists. The few dealings I have had with him have always been delightful. The green E300 diesel? Well, assuming it is in above-average condition, on a private sale £2,500 is not madness but on a good day you might pick it up for a lot less.
Having spoken to the seller of the green E300D, he expects it to reach about £3500. Up to your suggested price point I could be tempted, but that's about my limit. Other than finding something diesel flavoured (preferably old Merc) at up to the £2.5k area, I'm thinking a nice petrol-powered E36 up to £1200-ish.louiebaby said:
I don;t think she'd mind too much if we had somewhere to store them, but it costs enough to park the car we have on the street outside the house.
Maybe I should get a place with a bit more space before I start buying more...
Same problem. I rent a lock up for my usual second car (currently without) but it won't fit anything bigger than an E30 so I'm a bit scuppered.Maybe I should get a place with a bit more space before I start buying more...
I was pondering last night if I could find somewhere and get enough people locally interested in sharing, I guess it would be a logistical nightmare though.
I know it's pushing the tag of a barge but this looks tidy, if a bit expensive. What's to look out for, and are they any good?

Oddly, I'm thinking that 535 isn't that cheap for what it is? There are lots about at £1-£2K in (probably) better condition. I've already resigned myself to losing money on mine as we're abput the only people wanting V8's right now. What would worry me mostly is why someone who works in/runs a bodyshop hasn't sorted they bodywork on it (and why they've called the bodyshop "Standard Radiator"
)
Honda Type R is an itch I used to want to scratch but I'm not sure that's a real bargain either, if it had been an ITR it would have been but the Accords seem to be the unloved sister.
Retro Rides is always worth a good browse, lots of fascinating stuff. This was a bit new compared to everything else but I've a real soft spot for these - http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=FS...

A chap who works in the same building as me has a ZT 260 - he must have some kind of custom exhaust on it as the burble it makes is like Satan using mouthwash. Unbelievably awesome.
If its built as well as my old MG ZS I would be surprised if the exhaust is still attached! Slightly high on the miles but E65's now coming in at under £4k.

The 2.0 in the A6 is the 16v version at least, isn't it? So nearer 140bhp and better economy than the 115bhp boat anchor 8v, which was also to be found in my ex-wife's Beetle convertible.
Should be a 2l 20v.Don't think VAG did a 2l 16v since the Mk3 Golf Gti.
There was a later 2.0 16v though: the FSI engine which was fitted to the A4.
