(sigting lap, hence no helmet on last pic)
As I'm an 'open-topper' (so it just doesn't arise) genuine question > Is that allowed?Personally, notwithstanding what any TDO might or might not allow, I wouldn't recommend it: I have seen the odd 'monumental lash-up' (and read of many more) on 'sighting/familiarisation' laps and I doubt head-butting the A/B pillar/the roll cage hurts any less than on a 'proper' lap?

At bedford we thought we were just going to the "pits" from the car park in a "train" so we didn;t get lost. Assuming we'd then line up for sighting laps after emptying the boot/putting on helmets etc. So didn't put helmets on. As it turns out they just headed right out onto the circuit to do the sighting laps. Communication failure.Personally, notwithstanding what any TDO might or might not allow, I wouldn't recommend it: I have seen the odd 'monumental lash-up' (and read of many more) on 'sighting/familiarisation' laps and I doubt head-butting the A/B pillar/the roll cage hurts any less than on a 'proper' lap?

It's pics like the Escort that made me join the Irish rallying forum! I used to drive RS2000's all through the 90's, when a grand could get you a half decent one!, but I often think my e21 is like a well built Escort but without leaf springs.
