Get this guy on TopGear!

Awesome review - learnt a lot from it.
Why waste a car reviewer left interviewing celebs, having mock races, or making gags. Top Gear have their niche - being entertaining clowns. Leave Chris to review cars properly. As you were.
Close.

TG is entertaining. CH is informative. They probably wouldn't want him anyway...

Actually they could strike a happy compromise as soon as JC's hips give way. CH would make a great guest reviewer for the odd serious bit of filming.

Things like this usually start with a one off appearance and then they gauge how well received it was with the audience and viewers.

Before we know it CH will be presenting Planet Earth Live and Total Wipeout hehe

Excellent video.

I like the way when you talk about build quality, the camers pans past the broken ///M badge on the driver's seat back! Which I guess illustrates the point - because everything else has stood the test of time.

Anyway, my vote for more M videos would be to compare ///M cars with their non-M variants:

You could do comparisons against equivalent Alpinas, but I'm thinking:

E30 M3 versus 320is (or 325i)
E36 3.0 M3 versus 328i Sport
E34 M5 versus M535i (or 540 manual - can you find one?)

Funnily enough I walked past Tintern Garage a few weeks ago and noticed an M5 'round the back'. It looked quite tidy. I was going to leave a "will you sell it for £3000?" note on the windscreen, but the number plate looked familiar. D234...

Top vid and brilliant car. An icon, one of Bavaria's biggest hit.

Chris could you review the Z3m, Z4m, M3 CSL, E36 M3 Evo and the E34 M5.

Great vid. Made me miss my old 528i. 100hp down, no LSD so just span up inside wheel if you got a bit lairy, but it looked very nice:

Even had ///M sport blue leather. Let it go for silly money as a MOT fail. Had 160k miles on it and everything was knackered. Shame.

A plastic disc flies 300 feet?

That wheel centre cover sounds like an aspiring LMP car.

Look closely at 4 mins 45 seconds in, bye-bye rare as a Spanish bank wheel center!

With abilities to cover distance like that that wheel cover should be getting sponsored for a good cause. I'm sure Andy Wilman will be on the phone shortly wanting to sign up that nut cover.

Chris' presentation skills have greatly improved making these videos a real pleasure to watch. There's now a great connection between Chris and the viewer and the cameraman gives a you a very intimate feel for the cars. The music is also kept to minimum too letting the sound of the engine be heard above all else.

Quality work, keep it coming.

So much more exciting and enticing than the new one.

This video makes me want to go out and buy an 'old' car.

I've always liked these cars. BMW have always been a great 'almost marque', so very often nearly making the best cars going. Mind you, their performance saloon efforts have always been giving a right razzing by the Ford Sierra Cosworth, but I must applaud them for soldiering on in the face of such competition.
I had a race with a cossie in my standard 3.8 E34 and not only did the M5 have considerably more at the top end, when we got back to the car park his turbo was glowing red hot, while my car was completely unflustered.

... you could well be on to something here.

PH, as everyone knows has an incredibly diverse range of enthusiastic readers and their respective metal. I for one would love to see Chris review some of the stuff that people own... if they're willing to let him do so of course!

It would be brilliant exposure for PH, as well as entertaining and interesting.

It's probably logistically, legally and financially a nightmare. None the less, it could be a progression from the brilliant "PH Carpool" articles?

The Harry M method to instant riches

1) Buy not so popular but rare classic car

2) Create a superb vid on it

3) Sit back and watch the net nerds froth over the car and see resale values sky rocket

wink

And I think Audi had been selling a family saloon with porsche matching performance for about 6 years when this came out tongue out

Great I now want an old M5 as well in my ultimate garage, the OH is defiantly going to divorce me ...

Lovely car, but I still say the 300 SEL 6.3 gets the title of the first super saloon.
