Forgive me if I sound blunt, but I doubt the concept of speed limits being in existence in this country is an alien concept to anyone on this thread. I also doubt the idea that these speed limits are enforced by various means is a surprise, either. In the OPs case, I doubt the fact that it was a 30mph section was a secret kept from him and thrust upon him by surprise (his opening post seems to suggest he knew the limit).
Adding these things together, I fail to understand what would lead someone to justifiably feel 'indignant', were they to be caught or even have their speed checked, in order to enforce the limits you know exist, expect to be enforced and know are in force at that time and place?
I have sped, I will more than likely continue to speed and, if and when I am caught for doing so again, I will lay the blame squarely on myself for letting myself get caught, not moan on endlessly about how the whole thing is some money making scam or grand conspiracy to defraud the tax payer.

There is no real moaning, yes if I get a penalty I will most likely moan, most probably about the law, yes I knew it was a 30, although not keeping an exact eye on the speedo I wasn't fully aware I was approaching 40mph , unfortunately I do , like everybody else occasionally break the speed limit, I posted on here to gain advice from fellow motorists who may have experienced a similar situation, but instead seemed to have started a series of abuse , insults and political opinions about the law, anyway, is that the time....

Don't think so.I'm not connected with the police at all but from what I understand from various websites, it's more likely to be Lidar (like an LTi 20/20).
In this case, the actual device is a lot less interested to me than who was holding it at the time.

Back to subject... I'll drive enthusiatically on open roads but a 30 is a limit I never exceed - built up area/village (and therefore it's very likely that there will be people on foot) and excess speed is a potential recipe for disaster.

In all my years of driving I must never have come across another PHer on the road because if I drive at 30 (easy in my auto, speed limiter equipped, Merc) where a higher speed would be perfectly reasonable, it causes all sorts of stupid driving around me - tailgating, overtaking in dangerous places etc etc.Deva Link said:

:cough: speed awareness course :cough:A little off topic but a colleague was mine had to attend a speed awareness course a couple of weeks ago after being done for 46 in a 40 on the M42 variable. Most of the people onthe course had been caught the same way.
That's nothing to do with safety at all, it's about traffic management.

Position normal these days on here, almost like youtube round here lately, I sometimes wonder why some of them come on a motoring enthusiasts site and then spout so much bile about someone doing 7mph over a limit when the road is deserted other than a sneaky plod hiding behind a tree....Edited by Frenchda on Tuesday 19th June 15:44

You can see why he comes out with agressive replies like this, I doubt he even read the opening post. He's a know it all that has absolutly no one else (or is incapable of) to talk too.
So spends his time on here typing out dribble like the above.
