Hi All,

Would appreciate it if anyone can shed some light on when Porsche stops putting the sticker on the underside of the bonnets that a) told you the full list of options and b) gave you some comfort it hadn't been shunted. It was definitely on my 996 and is on my 993 but isn't on a 997 I've been looking at.

Thanks in advance for any light anyone can shed.

As far as I'm aware, Porsche stopped putting the sticker inside the bonnet with the introduction of the 997 but it's still in the Service Book.

Bad move by Porsche in my book as I was always reassured when I saw it, and quite often the service book goes missing and you don't get the sticker in the replacement.

I have a sneaky suspicion it was a tiny bit before that, as I remember reading some postings about people going to buy a late model 996.2 GT3 and finding it wasn't there, thus raising suspicions of a replacement bonnet... but then someone else saying that was normal for a late 996... so probably about 2004 ?? So, yes, wouldn't expect to find one on a 997..

No stickers in 997s - and none in 2005 model year 996.2 GT3s either.

That's the correct answer.

996 reg'd in 2005 had no sticker under bonnet. Mostly turbo, turbo s, gt2 and gt3's.

No 997 have bonnet stickers obviously.

Do you think a dodgy dealer thought it should have one & just made one up, or am I being cynical & Nano owns a GT2/3 & is having a laugh?

I assumed 997 were only produced from 2005 onward.

I had a '54' reg 997 a few years back & it had no sticker and the Saleman at the selling OPC told me that 997's don't have them.

My car was registered in Jan., 2005 but was built in 2004.

Did you have yours from new?

It would appear some cars did and some didn't who knows? It's more likely they got ripped off than retrospectively applied surely?
