Is that the one reffered to as the Crystal Carrington power shoulder -pad pod or the Harry Hill wing collar pod?

It's up past the camera mount!
I'm wondering if its a winglet between the engine cover & sidepod

Looking at it again I don't think it is.

Doesn't to top of the side pod look higher than normal though, the front edge of it is level with the camera pod? all part of a new airflow package, perhaps the pods are narrower as well?

I suspect it's the way the bodywork is stacked on the storage rack actually. the sode pods just being higher in the rack, thus appearing high in relation to the engine cover.

The McLaren sidepod looks the same as last race to me.

According to JAF1:

Whitmarsh said:
“The sidepods from the front to the rear are quite different so you’ll notice those and there are other bits and pieces that the sharper-eyed will see,” he said in the latest pre-race Vodafone phone-in with journalists.

sidepods are all about the swept undercut bit, all for management of the air around the rear of the car.

Lotus have fitted a vacuum cleaner to Raikkonen's car to clean the track, hose runs down the top of the engine cover and out under the rear wing.

That's nice of them to think of others smile

Thunderstorms during qualy, dry race. Could be a very interesting weekend.

Bets placed, sit back and relax as it all unfolds.

he was supposed to get a session at silverstone (race) but rain put the 'dampners' on that.

and that chinese chap did the young driver test at silverstone, i bet Dani's sponsors have pressured them into some track time.

The problem with Jenson is he seems to be very fast during practice looses the pace on the Saturday but finds it again on Sunday. Fingers crossed he can get back on form!

he doesn't seem to find a whole lot on the sunday tho...

can't see anyone but alonso or red bull taking this one. i think mclaren squandered their good start to the season and others have closed the gap and overtaken.

Mclaren have significantly changed their car, rear wing endplates, front wing, rear floor, 'mechanical changes', new coke botle and sidepods. Also people are reporting a return of the fired overrunsound from the mac.

they will either be fast or rubbish, i can see them as fast as red bull, slightly faster than ferrari.

Merc have a lot of new parts too.

Schumachers crash just like the GP2 red flag crash this morning. Although the GP2 driver hit much further down almost missing the tyre barrier and could have been very nasty against the concrete wall.

I did post about it earlier (long post on mobile) but I got oops pages it never appeared and I lost the post.
