Adequate, but no more. My dad has a 323 convertible. He offered it to me and although I fancied the 328 I thought I'd probably go with it. Drove it last week and it is a really great drive and makes a fab noise, but it doesn't feel very quick. Might be because I am used to turbo cars but it felt slower than my old MX-5

I have to say that the 328i doesn't feel as quick as it actually is!it's quite deceptive! acceleration off the line feels a little lethargic and yet you discover that you're actually travelling at a vast rate of knots! (all to do with its linear power delivery).
Once rolling along however, above 3500rpm it's acceleration can still make Me smile!

What's the peformance like on the 323?Its pretty much polar opposite of the Integra Type R I swapped out of! All the controls feel slow and heavy, but its nice being able to cruise a decent speeds.
This has LPG also which saps a bit more power. pics when I clean it. It needs a new rear screen and some of the bushes feel past their best but it also has a spax PSX kit on it so looks/handles great.
Its no way near my previous 328 sport performance wise, but i didnt buy it for that!

I've just bought a M3 e36 evo cab and yes they do suffer from scuttle shake quite badly,I did'nt buy it to do track days with but even so, for a Motorsport division car it really is a bit dissapointing.Edited by Funk on Sunday 5th August 13:57

All e36's can be a little bit rattly!, regardless of which version they are!, the trim clips tend to become loose/ break all over the place but the good news is that they are dirt cheap! (more often than not, they are actually cheaper from BMW Dealerships than on ebay!, so don't get caught out!).Edited by Funk on Sunday 5th August 13:57
I don't think scuttle shake is a major problem on the e36 convertibles, in normal driving on good tarmac I doubt you'll notice any at all.
On poorly maintained, rough tarmac, you'll possibly notice a little bit, but nothing that will make you regret owning the car.
When pushing on at speed they can feel a little bit looser than the coupes, but if you've never driven the coupe then you'll not really notice it.
At the end of the day it is a car that is designed for a slightly different purpose than the coupes (and 4 doors). It's a little bit more focussed on enjoying the world around you than out and out performance handling to the nth degree, but it makes a damned good effort at doing the performance bit as well when it needs to!

I've recently acquired a '95 318ic and despite being a bit ratty (fixer-upper!) and a bit cantankerous (she left me and two friends stranded on the M5 on the way to a wedding when a radiator hose popped off) it really is awesome with the roof down. I've never been particularly fussed about the whole 'vert thing but I've fallen hard for this little car and even if I end up getting rid I will probably replace it with a cleaner one. The M43 engine is astonishingly frugal, too. Cruised just shy of 150 motorway miles today, with the top down, at a decent speed, only used quarter of a tank. OK, slow off the blocks and couldn't pull the skin off a cup of hot cocoa but the car's got heart

Got my insurance quote from Confused down by quite a bit tonight; £450 fully comp which was better than I was expecting. As I've been in company cars for years I have no No Claims and I hit a fox three years ago in the 123d which cost £900 and was put through the insurance by work.
Was anticipating insurance being a good £200-300 more. Happy days!
