Just put my friends on the plane to head off to Monza, they enjoyed Spa and the Belgian beer.

Why not drink a decent one instead then?
Because a decent Italian Beer is an oxymoron. wink
Lies! Quite partial to some of their beers to kick off the Apres!

My guess for the race: Jenson & lewis or Lewis & Jenson. Fred 3rd.

I'm on holiday in norfolk next weekend, so I'll cheer for lotus. But not Grosjean because of today, and not Kimi just because. Hey MG, what are the odds on D'ambrosio winning next weekend??
So not Grosjean cos he wont be racing then ?

What happens if D'Custard gets in the points? will he appear in the 2012 driver standings? will any points be counted in the constructors tally?

Yes. Just like when De La Rosa or Wurz stood in at McLaren a few years back, or when Fisichella and Badoer jumped in Massa's Ferrari. (Even though they didn't trouble the points table)

With driver and car 'form' being turned upside down almost every other race so far this season, who knows what will happen on Sunday. I am still a tad puzzled about how superior the Button/McLaren combination was compared to all the other top combinations last weekend, even before the incident at the start. Button put in three fast laps in Q3 apparently all of which would ensure pole! How often does that happen? Quite out of keeping with all previous form.

I shall be pleased if Button repeats the performance but this season, nothing is certain.

It's about time some drivers including Maldonado and Grosjean showed better points scoring form with just a tad of adjustment to their style. May not happen this weekend and certainly not the latter with Grosjean. The form is now so close that any one of the top dozen or so cars on the grid at Spa Francorchamps could have won the race on Sunday if Button had a DNF.

Just had a glance at two on-line bookies' odds and both have Button @ 5-1 for the race and 5-1 to be fastest in Q3. If Button's form during Q3 and the race last Sunday is not some flash in the pan, those are good odds.

John, what odds on Button to win the WDC?

Also, what odds a Maldonado win in Singapore?

We're off to Italy this evening, heading down into Milan over the Stelvio pass tomorrow. Really excited about my first trip to Monza!

Can somebody fill me in on what happened at Spa? Sat on the manic spectator banking at Pouhon, we didn't really have a clue! How did Button and Vettel managed to squeeze a one-stopper out? Any other assertions or news in advance of Monza?

Every time we say RB don't suit the circuit they usually show up and dominate so perhaps an RB 1-2 will be on the cards and noone will get near Vettel the entire weekend. Bloody hope not though.

Wouldn't mind another Button victory, preferably with another few of the title contenders getting wiped out at the start again, but Grosjean isn't there to fk things up so we might need Pastor to have a good qualifying to sort that out.

Mercedes had a quick car in a straight line last year to but didn't look close to a victory, can't imagine they'll do anything this year. Kimi might have a chance in the Renault though.

Alonso might pull something special out purely because he's a special driver and it's Monza.

My theory is that Jenson's car works only on low-downforce circuits. I think the increased slip and yaw angles of the tyres generates surface temperature, which helps Jenson get them into the their operating window on the short qually runs.

Spa then Monza... Best 2 races of the year.
yes so much more excitement/anticipation at these races. Perfect plan - drive to Spa, and then head to the 'Ring, across the Stelvio, Monza and back. Great 10 day programme.

JB around 22-1 and 25-1 now for WDC. Was up around 100-1 at some stage this season ... too late now.... smile 25-1 is still a bit mean in my view.

Don't know about Singapore for Maldonado, but he's 80-1 generally to win at Monza.

The WDC F1 is clearly Alonso's to lose this season. Mind you he has a BIG handicap. He has my money riding in him ...frown

Might look into that next year or the year after. Fantastic idea.

Might be worth discussing options on another thread to stop this one becoming too OT.

ETA: Spa didn't have a TD near the GP this year.

I'd settle for that with another Alonso dnf to bring things close in the WDC fight...
