Oddly RaceTech Direct do a kit of the reflectors and adjusters for £99.96 + VAT whereas they sell the reflectors alone for £110 + VAT each...

Given that my adjusters are siezed solid, how do the adjusters "connect" with the bodywork? Are there threaded fittings that they screw into or do they pass through some kind of plate / fitting and are held in place by the spring and thumbnut?

Phil
Hi The adjusters fit through a hole in the fibre glass, there is spring between the bodywork and the lug which fits into the rubber bit in the reflector You adjust by winding bolt in and out with a screwdriver then reseal the hole in the sika flex. Using stainless steel adjusters is essential the old ones are always seized solid.

I'm a fan of Lupo lights but I certainly wouldn't want headlights you can't adjust.
You can adjust them using the built in adjustment in the lights themselves but the light 'modules' are fixed - so you need to get the basic aim right and then you can adjust the built in adjusters in exactly the same way as you do the three adjusters on the originals.

You think you be able to get to them adjusters?

It's tight enough on the original vw plastic front panel

You're supposed to be able to get a small socket onto the nuts on the adjusters...

I think they are set and glued at the correct height, Rick even made a bigger access hole with a cover to make it easier to change bulbs.

Colin
Thats why it was cheap ! Williow Sports cars said it`s a hell of a job to make them adjustable which takes three times as long to fit .
That's rubbish Daz. The lights are set in position then the adjusters move the light internally.

I cut a hatch in the inner wheel arch that makes it easy.

Edited to say that Willow are talking rubbish, obviously not you Daz smile

Like I said earlier; they work fine providing they are in good order, and yes; adjustable.
It's just not that obvious how to get at them, to be fair.

So the unit has adjustment ! did not realise, thought they were fixed in without adjustment .

These look like an option .

What year lupo lights are the best to go for ,im aware the later ones have indicators incorporated..

Maybe driving lights for high beem could be fitted where the indicators are located on the Chimaera

Not the best pic but the only one I've got for now. When they were fitted a bigger access hole was cut in the wheelarch to give access to the adjusters and make bulb changing easier.

I really like the Lupo lights but I am trying to keep mine as standard as possible- I think for long term investment thats probably best as its a keeper for me.

I think the 'lupo' conversion still keeps the look original, but just freshens it up and face-lifts it. The pictures above are testimony to that IMHO.
When I get a Chim, its one of the first things I'll be doing to mine.

Would it be ok to go after market (copies) or stick with the OE one`s ,not sure about the quality .Seen these ,rather like them ,would look smart next to the colour of my car and match the rear lights .I wonder if the colour would stop some light through .

Think they would look smart next to Galazy metalic grey ..

What do you think ? smoke or clear !
