Got up this morning to a few emails following on from my first post. They do make sense, two different people talking of the same thing, that is PpruneTowers intention to start another website (for his own gain) away from Interbrands.

If thats the case then I take my hat off to him, alienate the pprune members and moderation team so they leave Pprune, upset enough and reduce its readership. All of that whilst Interbrands pay you a fee. Then start up your own forum in direct competition to cream off all that lovely advertising revenue. How clever can one person be!!

Its rumoured that when Danny sold Pprune to Internet Brands he received $1.5m, if pprune towers did the same then thats a very nice retirement nest egg. Good luck with that one.

$1.5m, that's a nice tidy sum. It's sadly a shadow of what it used to be. Over zealous moderation, the constant harping on about it becoming 'like airliners.net' and the fact that fairly significant aviation related events can happen without anyone seeming to notice. When Delta bought that big share in Virgin Atlantic a few weeks ago the thread about it had two posts after 24 hours. For a so called 'professional' pilots forum that doesn't suggest to me there's much interest.

When bmi was about to be taken over by BA, I added some stuff to the R&N section about it. It was moved to the backend of no-where in the forum and I was told and I quote "Professional Pilots aren't interested in that."

Guess who sent that e-mail?

If Towers or Pop are trying to setup somewhere new, then count me out.

That mod policy from IB answers a lot of questions about the way things have gone on there in recent times though.

If what you've written is even close to true, that boat sailed a long time ago.

Captain Bimble.

I take it you were referring to that palaver that ran in Biz Jets?

I joined prune in 97 (ish) and gave up in the early naughties. I still occasionally have a browse but post maybe no more than a few times a year. Tech Log is the only place that holds it together for me, some very clever peeps around there.

IforB is so right, R&N is a bit of a waste of time, although maybe a fresh start might not be so bad?

Anyway, PH is quite different, as is human nature, you'll no doubt know, there are a few characters around here that thrive on the internet anonymous hard man style but that's overshadowed by plenty that's good.

There was a Ph'er by the name of Flintstone on here, not seem him post for a while, heck of a dry SOH. Same chap? Don't know.

Anyway, welcome to PH.

I must admit I have already found PH to be a much more friendly place!!

With respect to PpunePop, he's a really nice guy who has suffered at the hand of Pprunetowers. I doubt he would be wanting to get involved with any other forum ran by towers...

I don't think the mod policy is set by Internet Brands, they seem to leave Towers to do pretty much what he wants. It has to be a very serious issue (normally the threat of them getting sued) before they step in and say anything.

Flintstone - may be the same person on here, certainly Flintstone on Flyer is an ex pprune mod who had enough of the attitude of Tower's.

It is a real shame, a fantastic forum which has fizzled out due to one mans actions. Looking at Flyer and EuroGa, both seem to be going from strength to strength due to the policy of Pprune. Ian and Peter both seem to have a sensible balance with the approach to moderation rather than a dictatorship.

Interesting that on Flyer a post popped up today about Kevin Crellin - http://forums.flyer.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=...

Nutter of the highest degree.

Happy Christmas, hope everyone has a good day today. I have started my day off as I intend to go on, No driving, coffee (and brandy) and a nice plate of croissants. Thought I would post before my worms get slurred!!

Just been reading through my emails, several people have wrote to me in connection to this. if what has been said is only 5% true then its all very sad. One person is a very close family friend of Pprune Towers family and I have no reason to doubt what she has said. For the sake of the wife and the children I shall be very careful in what I say.

It would seem that Pprune Towers has a long established history of being quite dogmatic - there is only one way to do anything and that's his way. If he can't achieve that through fair means then he might consider being a little, shall we say conservative with the truth to achieve what he wants. Obviously in a marriage this might cause some problems, sadly that is what seems to have happened. Now obviously if someone lives to those standards then there is every chance that one day it will catch up.

It seems that Towers has some dark secrets and they have recently become the knowledge of both the CAA and his employer. He is a professional pilot and should have known better, so lets hope that he receives the help he needs to overcome his problems and can move on with his life in a better and more balanced way. Hopefully his employer will support him with the help he needs.

The overall impression that I have is that he is charming, but can resort to being a bully if he does not get his own way.

It has to be said that if anything in the emails is to be believed then his life has become a huge mess, with a lot of the mess self inflicted. However most people are saying is that his biggest fault is that he refuses to ever accept that he is in anyway to blame and its ALWAYS someone else's fault. Hopefully if that is true then he will get the help and support he deserves.

On a lighter note I did smile at the stories that some have claimed he has said - how can a BBJ (baby 737 jet) suffer "holes" in it during flight through people on the ground shooting at it and that to have never made the news? Also I have been told he claimed he was an ex Olympic swimming team member!!

I doubt we will ever hear the full story, but at this time of year I for one wish him well and hope that life works out for him and anyone who he has upset (there certainly seem to be a number around who fall into that box!!) see's it in their hearts to forgive him.

Internet Brands are infamous for their purchase of the forum software vBulletin, which according to some they then ran into the ground. When the developers quit and started their own from scratch (Xenforo), IB sued them, ultimately unsuccessfully. An unpleasant company by most people's assessment, and plenty of discussion about their behaviour out there.

Just been following the links on Flyer forum referred to earlier in this thread. Wow, talk about trial by internet. A senior magistrate making statements that lead you to believe that Crellin / Henderson is guilty of everything that is accused on the internet, without seemingly any need for trial or defence. - Rather than letting the Police and CJS do their job, if the accusations are even remotely true...

Then the latest post by a person who is a convicted sex offender who owns a flying school and changed his name after his conviction, then talk of Maurice Kirk being conned by the guy, a quick Google around has shown some interesting points. The latest poster is due for trial at Oxford Crown Court in January and February (matter of public record)Maurice Kirk would seem to have some history with him. All very strange and bizarre.

The content of the posting on Flyer referring to Kirk was made even stranger by a Google search of the two names and this came up on Kirk's website:

"1997. Evidence from Christopher Paul Ebbs, alone, a compulsive liar with extended mental health and criminal history".

Some links I found:

http://kirkflyingvet.com/blogs/news/archive/2012/0...

http://kirkflyingvet.com/blogs/kirks_blog/default....

Now there was me thinking Pprune could be extreme. The story gets stranger by the second.

Yes - I read that as well - but does that prove that all the latest claims are true and proven beyond doubt? My feeling are that speculation such as what has gone on actually damages the criminal justice system and stops a fair trial. It's shameful and meets the test of mob hysteria. The posters are taking away the process of the Police, the court and a jury.

What if Crellin / Henderson (or whoever he is) read the posts and made the decision that there was no point in defending anything (not because of guilt but because of overwhelming accusation on the internet) and decided enough was enough and could see no way out of his problems and took his life? Would that be fair? Surely in civilized society there is a fundamental right for both sides to put over their case rather than a trial be heard on the internet?

Is the person in question so awful that he does not deserve a trial? Shall we just hang him now? - if we follow the seeming example of the senior magistrate on Flyer, nothing should be believed that he says so what chance has he got of a fair trial?

I like to think the best in everyone and try to believe that we all make mistakes in life, yet we can all turn around and move forward. Hence my comments in my earlier post about Pprune Towers

What if the person in question on the Flyer Forum has read what has gone on at the Flyer Forum and tonight is dead, having had enough and feeling he has no fair chance, would everyone there feel better? If that's the case then thank God I'm not a poster on flyer.

NO.... I was talking about the situation with respect to the Henderson / Crellin person and trial by Internet. I am also mindful of an email that was sent to me with respect to the pressures Pprune Towers must feel under at present.

I am struggling to see what you are trying to achieve other than to try to destroy a man's character. Now I dislike the way that Pprune is run nowadays, but the way I deal with it is to not go on the site.

You seem to have a vey personal axe to grind and the people you mention are not on here to defend themselves.

I don't want to attack or knock anyone's character. However I don't think that anyone should be above the rules and laws that the rest of us have to work to. Pprune Towers used several identities on Pprune, as did some other moderators. I'm not so certain that Towers is not on this forum and unable to defend himself should he wish. He is certainly using an identity on Flyer Forum which is not one you would expect and its being used to stir up trouble.

What I have previously written is supported by various documents and is more than wanton rumor.

Yes, I share your view - after my dealings with Towers and the way he has treated me and several other moderators I will not go back on the Pprune forum. The biggest issue for many moderators there is the risk they now face if a post that causes IB to be sued and they have accidently missed the post. Remember the only paid moderator is Towers the other 40 to 50 moderators just do it for fun... Towers has said that IB have said they will pass the moderators details for that section of the forum relevant to that moderator upon a court order.

IB wanted their legal team to have access to a private area on the forum (called "area51" open for moderators to discuss issues). Towers stirred up a stink over that one. When I left the legal team had been blocked from accessing that area of the forum. The big question to me is who actually runs the Forum - Towers or IB?

I cant be the only one that suspects that Captain Bumble is actually GEP or Kevin Crellin or Midlands Flyer or David Henderson.

If anyone cares to reads his pprune posts and then reads these recent posts you will spot the same tell tale phrases.

Give us all a break- you must think us stupid!

I don't really see what any of this has to do with PH either, in terms of content or members, whereas it does expose PH to certain potential legal grief.

Agreed. A general discussion/grumble about another site is one thing, what has been posted on here by Cpt Bumble is a pretty personal attack on someone.
